New Dynasty Vision

May 22, 2004 at 07:08PM View BBCode

Uploaded the latest from Chris. If anyone out there has IE on the Mac - let me know if you can see the boxscore after the game is complete.

There is also a new scoreboard type called LED. You can choose this under User Profile.

Now that I think about it, LED may be a slight misnomer for this, as obviously no real scoreboards use LED's. The proper name would probably be "Segment display scoreboard", but a lot of people migt say "Huh"?

Rather than using names, should we maybe do like the logos and show a small icon of part of the display?

I'm going to run a few test games. I'm trying to hunt down a bug where a PH in the ninth for the away team who is pinch-hitting for the pitcher doesn't have his stats show up...

Aren't you dumping both teams in their entirety to the datablock? Is it possible that you're stopping one short from the end and the guy in question happens to be the last guy on the roster?

Oh, and if you want to show a scoreboard sample, here's the code:

<td bgcolor="#443F3A" height=25 width=40 align="center" valign="center"><IMG SRC="images/dv-nd-ms1h.gif" align="absmiddle" width=4 height=15><IMG SRC="images/dv-nd-ms2.gif" align="absmiddle" width=10 height=15>&nbsp;<IMG SRC="images/dv-nd-msblankh.gif" align="absmiddle" width=4 height=15><IMG SRC="images/dv-nd-ms3.gif" align="absmiddle" width=10 height=15></td>

(Replace "ms" in that line with "led" or "dm" as appropriate)

This snipped craeates a 40x25 cell showing 12 3 (where the 12 is in a single display slot). Making it 40x23 allows the surrounding detail to be seen, like the shadowing around the number cards for the manual display.

The bug has been fixed.

There was actually different code to build the data block depending on whether or not a guy played in the game - and other special checks to see if its a pitcher playing in the field for the day. I found the problem and corrected it.

I am running IE 5 on Mac 9.2. It works fine but I am not getting the boxscore after the game. All that happens is the dynasty vision display says "Game Complete" (or whatever) and then just stays there. The box score is nowhere to be seen. This is not a new problem though, the old dynasty vision never diplayed the boxscore either.

It is not a huge issue though , because I can't imagine many people are still running IE 5 on the old Mac OS 9.2. Things have always been fine using Mozilla (which I can't test now because my regular computer is down)

Does the "show box score" link appear above DynastyVision after the game? Do the clock and out-of-town scoreboards continue to update?

Scoreboard Display Issue

May 23, 2004 at 04:37AM View BBCode

I'm on Mozilla FireFox 0.8 for Windows XP...

The option to choose different scoreboard displays is not working for me. I've tried clearing out my cache multiple times but to no avail, I still only see the Dot Matrix Scoreboard.

I have IE for Windows.

hitting show all causes it to go to the game box score fine, and so does hittign go to box score when the game finishes.

IE 5 for OS 9 isn't showing the box score.

The right side of the screen below the away team's city is simply blank. It was just a quick bedtime check and I normally use Netscape, but something still isn't sitting well with IE. Hope that helps.

The scoreboard for a game is the scoreboard you had set when the game ran, so it won't update until another game runs. Also, you are not setting the scoreboard you'd like to see, you're setting it for your stadium, so you'll always see the scoreboard type for the home team.

Does it do this from the get go, or does it do this after you hit the link or button to show the box score?

Tyson, none of the new images for the LED scoreboard type are on the beta site. (See http://www.simdynasty.com/beta/boxscore.jsp?boxscoreid=49798&cityid=5 )

I moved over the images I had. I think you are using the wrong file names for some of the images.

After one hits the link to show the full recap and box score, dynasty vision disappears, the full recap appears at the left, but only the away team's name appears on the right side (where the box score usually is).

I just double-cheked the ZIP I sent you and it's complete and all correctly named... I'll send them again as individual attachments.

Unfortunately, that sounds like it may be abug in IE5 for the Mac. What happens on the current (non-Beta) DynastyVision when you click the Show All button?

Hmm. Similar thing happens. The Dynasty Vision doesn't disappear in IE when you hit Show All - at least not when I just tried. I don't use IE normally, but I would think if it always did that you would have had it reported. Perhaps it works properly on IE for OSX? Let me know if I can give more info.

So if we move to the new DynastyVision, IE 5 on Mac users won't be losing anything.

Is anyone else finding any wierdness? The sooner the new DV goes in, the sooner we can start tracking our minor league improvements... :)

Almost perfect on Moz 1.5/win32, but when you hit show all, the linescore and ads aren't centered under the heading like they used to be. Very minor thing.

Was it an extra-inning game?
