New Signup Process - please help me test

April 16, 2004 at 03:49PM View BBCode

I have moved into place a few changes to the signup process. Please sign up for some new screen names and try to get some teams.

The changes are that you will now have to confirm your email address before you can signup for a team.

The other change is that we added a new field that asks how you heard about Sim Dynasty.

Let me know your comments on this. I will probably move this change and some others into place before May 15th.

No problem here. It did take a few minutes for the verification email to arrive, so I tried the resend verification link. That worked too, and both emails finally arrived (delay probably due to Yahoo).

When I clicked on the second verification message, it said resource not available. It was pointing at the main site instead of the beta site.

Oh, I'll fix that so that we can test it. I had to add in some logic to append the /beta/ to the URL in the email.

I noticed that it takes Hotmail 2-3 minutes for the message to come to me. But when I send it within Sim Dynasty (ie to tysonlowery@simdynasty.com) it shows up right away.

I'll do some testing on that.

It worked fine, except I was able to sign up for 2 teams in the same league, which I didn't think was suppost to be allowed...

I was able to sign up for a single season team without confirming my email address.

Side note: I use Hotmail and received the verification email instantly.

I was able to sign up for a single season team without confirming my email address.

Really? I just tried and couldn't do it. Were you using an old account from before? Are you sure you didn't confirm it? Did you confirm it after you signed up for the team? What screen name did you use?

I just tried again and it wouldn't let me get a team without verification, so it looks like it was just a fluke, or if there was a hole it has been plugged.

It was a new screen name. I'm sure I didn't confirm it. I only opened the email, but didn't use it to confirm anything because I thought, "Someone should test this." I never confirmed that name. The screen name that I used was BetaBrad.

I'm showing BetaBrad as verified now. I wonder what happened there - I haven't been able to sneak any by.
