Email Verification - please comment

Damaestrio and I have put in an email verification system. Basically, you will need to click on a link in a generated email before you are able to signup for a team.
If you guys could signup for new screen name(s) on the beta site and test it out, that would be great. I'm looking for potential problems or confusion areas as well. Or if there is a way to get stuck.
Existing owners can verify their email addresses by going to http://www.simdynasty.com/beta/verify.jsp I am going to grandfather existing owners for a while, but eventually you won't be able to log in until your email has been verified.
One more thing. The links in the email are for the main site only. You'll have to slip a /beta/ in there after simdynasty.com for the links to work properly.

The email comes from simbaseball. Is that okay?
I'd put some better text on the verification page explaining more about the difference between the two leagues. Maybe a chart with two columns (dynasty and single season) that lists the features and puts checks next to the feature if the league has it (i.e. "multiple seasons" would be checked in the column under dynasty but not single season). Sort of like when you compare cars on various car websites. This is VERY valuable real estate as these customers have gone so far as to activate. May as well upsell them as much as possible.
Also, that random name thing is confusing. Why not just make it some numbers? The first time I signed up, I thought it was a mistake (it said my name was Jean-Pierre Roy .... am I a hockey player?). Anything but a name would be better.

It worked for me.
The whole "first name - last name" validation thing was... unique. I agree with FTP that if it can be changed, it would help avoid confusion.

Worked fine, don't like the weird name thing either!

Maybe if it asked for your own name?
Although I'm sure Joe needs all the publicity he can get!

Since doing this, I am unable to log in to my Beta team on my computer. I have gone to another computer, and was able to log in just fine though. I tried deleting all my cookies and saved internet files, but I was still unable to log in.
Any ideas?

The names are real MLB players. Thought it would add some flavor to the process. May be a bad idea.
On the cookie thing - ugggh. Did you by any chance change the time on your computer? What does it say when you try to log in as jer2911? Does it take you to the home page, and then list the new screen name?

I don't think I changed the time on my computer... well, I did make it so that the Message Board time displays as Pacific Time, but that was a long time ago.
When I try to log in as jer2911 it just leaves me with a blank page at the "login2.jsp" screen. Though the page has the "logged out" background that displays when first coming to the site.
I'm going to try to find the cookie on the other computer from the beta site, and see if I can get it copied in the right place on my computer in case that might work.

I tried copying all 3 cookies that I thought were from the beta site and I still couldn't log in.

When I clicked on the "If need your verification information re-sent, or need to change your email, click here" link I received an error message (see below) - should I have included my screen name first (before clicking the link)?
www.simdynasty.com/beta/forgotverify.jsp

I was able to successfully create and verify a new beta username account. However, the direct link in the e-mail didn't work; I had to use the other link and add the beta/ to the url.
I would agree with the previous comments that using a player name for verification is a little confusion - my first reaction was to assume it was asking for my name. Maybe the verification e-mail can be modified to make this distinction clearer.

I'm going to take another crack at this in the coming weeks. Thanks for the input.
