Dunlap will end up getting in. He's an interesting case, but I think he has all of the kinds of attributes a case like his needs (i.e. contributed to winning teams, fit the prototypical leadoff hitter identity perfectly).

Man, I can't really hate on May. He's a compiler just like one of my borderline guys that got in Hudgens. He definitely was promoted early which significantly effected his rate stats being below average. But...I do have to point out last year's voting:

1 vote/6 voters -
Glen Anderson
Bill Nill
Jack Weind
Mike Keifer
Dorsey Nichols
Joe May
Gerry Bowman

And the previous year's voting:

receiving 1 vote each/7 voters:

Jock West
Dorsey Nichols
Vance Patton
Dennis Bogen
Mike Keifer
Jackie Lutz
Joe May

And the previous year's vote:

also receiving votes:

Reggie Jeanes 3/8
Vance Patton 3/8
Glen Anderson 2/8
Duane Guadet 2/8
Dennis Bogen 1/8
Milo Alexander 1/8
Jock West 1/8
Jackie Lutz 1/8
Wilbur DePhillip 1/8
Joe May 0/8

Tyson Kelleher and Jason Wheat will be removed from the eligible list, as they failed to receive votes in their first two years on the list.

And finally his 1st year on the ballot:

and receiving one vote each/9 voters:
Dennis Bogen
Milo Alexander
Jackie Lutz
Joe May
Britt Johnson

I think May's getting support has to do a lot with so many better than average hitters being on the ballot. It's tough to differentiate the HOF guys from the Hall of Very Good guys. Some hitters seem to get love from a few owners, while other owners tend to support hitters that are similar but different in some way. The thing that I'll remember about May is that he was part of the dominant Pittsburgh franchise that I think benefitted greatly from being so much better than the rest of the NL teams that it seemed to inflate their perceived value. One of the problems with newer owners voting on the HOF worthiness of retired guys is that it's near impossible to recognize subtle nuance. I'm not at all trying to bash anybody's voting. I honestly think 9 out of 10 typical HOFers are guys that would be universally accepted by most Leagues. May, in my humble opinion, is that 1 out of 10 that can go either way depending on the owners' philosophies.

Fairly is yet another one of Mike's old Seattle Dynasty that gets in. I said it before it will be interesting to see how many ex-players from those Seattle teams end up in the HOF. Considering the 131 losses this season, getting in some more Hall guys is at least a small victory during your rebuild.

Glad to see Fairly get in unanimously. He follows the unanimous votes of Dave Pepper and then Pete Gehrig, 3 seasons in a row along with Dave Minor who made it in as well. Was hoping to see Doc Luque might make it 4 uni's in a row but he's hanging on in Toronto for another season to try for a 10th WS appearance and 7th WS ring. Not sure if he's a unanimous vote but I'm sure he definitely going into the Hall. What I'm most proud of is these guys were my draft picks and developed. Dave Minor was picked up in a trade in his first major league season. Very proud of that run for the Starbucks!

Also forgot about Dunlap and his contribution to 3 of the Starbucks WS rings as our leadoff hitter. Totally agree with Spicoli on this one.
