Is there more to this trade?

Trade #1465990 has been completed between the Boston Crablegs and the Toronto Citizens. The Toronto Citizens receive Hank Morman from the Boston Crablegs in exchange for Al Montejo.

If not, that is horribly unbalanced in favor of Toronto.

Morman was not on the trade block. I have a hard time believing Boston couldn't have gotten something of much more value than a 34OS who will start to decline in the offseason.

I looked at this rather askance myself - seemed lopsided to me as well - is it actionable - what say you all?

Thanks for the solidarity, max. I doubt it is challengeable because I doubt it is collusion. Likely a mistake by Boston. Problem is it is extremely sketchy timing. Morman isn't a HOFer, but I'd put odds at 90% he exceeds Montejo's value next season. The seasons after that, 95+. I guess it was sold as Montejo's A- rating means he is better than Norman's B+ rating. Problem is, all you have to do is compare their career OPS (.821 vs. .760) to realize that the ratings difference doesn't mean a damn when it comes to overall value.

I needed a 3B and had a glut of outfielders. Plus I needed a lh. bat. I, Boston offered this trade.

Ok. Do you understand that the timing of the trade seemed suspect? Did you consider waiting until the postseason ran? I'm mentioning it because there was a chance (albeit very, very small) that Montejo could have retired in the offseason.

In the future, I would encourage you to let the rest of us know you are looking to move someone for something you are missing. As impartially as I can say this, you could have gotten much better, danno. The Trade Block would help you get better value and also help us understand for what you are looking. I know players stay on the trade block for long periods of time, but that's mainly because the players are near waiver wire fodder. A player like Morman will likely move much quicker.
