Coach Points modifcations

I've made some changes to how coach points are done, based on some of your feedback.

You can now have a maximum of 2 players on your team get an improvement in any given game. It can be the same player getting 2 improvements.

But I've weighed the chances of getting improvements based on how good his skill is to begin with. So it will be easier to improve a skill that a guy has a D in verses one he already has an A in.

A guy with a C+ rating at a particular skill can expect to receive improvements at the same rate as before.

I hope this will eliminate the super freaks we had in the last beta league where every pitcher was an A.

I'll be tweaking off season improvements as well.

Look for it in games starting tomorrow.

Great idea -- if it works as described this will be a big improvement. This will still allow weak guys to improve to an adequate level without creating too many superstars. I like it.

This sounds great! I'll start keeping track again of who improves and when so we will have some data to track it.

Brad - you may want to keep track of what the guys rating was at the skill he improved in.

There are now 3 significant variables to how much a guy will improve - age, coach points, and skill at that rating.

Good point. Does it consider whole letter grades, or just the +/-, or does it go to the actual number rating? (because I could approximate that from the Player Rankings Page)

But I would just track by letter grade, since you don't know the exact numbers. That would give some good figures I think.

Has anyone else seen more than 1 player (per team), improve in a single game? I haven't. (Or maybe I read it wrong...)

I'll run some tests. It should be rare that you have 2 guys improve in the same game, although it could happen. I'll do some testing with two guys who are Fs at everything to see what it does for them.

This may be a stupid question,but.....do these changes simply apply to the Beta league or do they apply to all leagues?Thanks!

I have on a couple of occasions seen the same player get two improvements in the same game IN THE SAME SKILL. I'm assuming this is a legitimate random occurrence, one that I presume would be most likely to happen in a skill where that player is particularly weak. But figured I'd give a heads-up in case this is a glitch, or if it just a case of the same line being printed twice.

My17 year old OF improved twice in the same game today...in different categories...and believe me he needs it!
