Class of 1958

Boozer played for 5 different teams over his career, mainly Baltimore (1950-52) and St Louis (1952-56) and owns a career record of 135-45 (.750). He was the Cy Young winner in 1950 and 1954, the only 2-time winner in league history. His 1954 season (24-2; 17 CG; 2 SHO; 167K; 1.16 WHIP; 2.32 ERA) may have been the best ever recorded by a starter in the CYL, when he received a league record 866 Cy Young votes. At the time of his retirement Boozer was in the career top 10 in Wins (135-10th), CG (81-1st), SHO (18-2nd), K (1193- 10th) and was 11th in career ERA (3.66). He recorded 4 20-win seasons (a league record), 5 seasons with 10 or more CG and 2 seasons with 5 SHO. His 208 strikeouts in 1950 remains the single season record. Boozer won 1 World Series (with St Louis in 1954) and played in it twice. He reached the LCS on 5 occasions. Carlos Boozer was named on 90% of the eligible ballots.
Class of 1959

Ortiz came to St Louis in the 1951 expansion draft, and spent the remainder of his career there, retiring after the 1958 season. He was league MVP in 1953, and 2nd in voting in 1952. He was an All Star for 7 straight years, and a starter in 1951, 52, 53 and 55. Ortiz won 3 World Series titles with St Louis, playing in 4 and appeared in the LCS on 7 occasions. Ortiz is one of only 3 players to have twice hit 50 home runs in a season, and had 100 RBI seasons 5 times. He scored over 100 runs in 6 straight years, over 130 3 times, and more than 150 twice. His 184 runs scored in 1952 is still the league's all-time best. He also had 200 hits in a season 3 times. He hit more than .370 twice. Ortiz's career totals in AVG (.337) HR (256), SLG (.603), OBP (.423) and OPS (1.027) all rank first all-time at 2nd base. He is in the top 15 in AVG, HR, R, SLG, OBP and OPS regardless of position. Al Ortiz was named on 100% of the eligible ballots.

Swoboda retired after the 1962 season in the All-time top 10 in Hits (6th- 2,372), HR (7th- 379), RBI (5th- 1390), Runs (4th- 1501), AVG (10th- .326). He is also in the top 5 in single season totals for HR (2nd- 58, 1952), Hits (1st- 255, 1955; 4th- 259, 1952), RBI (1st- 188, 1952), Runs (5th- 171, 1952), SLG (4th- .733, 1952), OPS (4th- 1.192, 1952).
Swoboda scored 100+ runs for 10 consecutive seasons, including 6 years of 140+, and scored 170 runs in a season twice. He also had 8 100 RBI seasons, driving in 130 or more 4 times. He had 3 seasons of 40+ home runs, and hit more than 20 for 10 straight seasons. His 1952 season is arguably the best single season performance in league history: 171 R, 259 Hits, 58 HR, 188 RBI, .378 AVG. He won the combined league MVP that year, and also finished 2nd twice (1955, 57) and in top 5 two other times (1953, 56).
Swoboda won 3 World Series titles, 5 League Championships, and appeared in 10 post-seasons while playing 12 of his 13 years in St Louis. He was an All Star for 10 consecutive seasons (1951-60) and a starter 8 times. He was named on 82% of eligible ballots.

Lucas spent the bulk of his 13 year career in Detroit, where he won 2 World Series titles in 6 appearances, and appeared in the LCS on 4 other occasions. He is in the top 10 All-time in HR (6th-385), RBI (6th- 1374), SLG (2nd- .604), OBP (5th- .411), OPS (3rd- 1.015) and AVG (4th- .333). He hit 20+ HR is 10 straight seasons, 30+ 7 times and 40+ twice. He had 6 years with 100+ Runs scored and 8 with 100+ RBI's. Lucas was a 5-time All Star and started twice. He was named on 82% of the eligible ballots.
Class of 1964

Carter won 20 games 5 times in his 12 year career, spent mainly with Pittsburgh and St Louis. He also won 16 games or more in 4 other years. He never lost more than 8 games in a season over an 11-year stretch from 1950-1960 despite averaging over 30 starts in those seasons. He is 7th All-time in both Wins (204) and CG (88). He has a career winning percentage of 72.9%. Carter won the combined Cy Young in 1952 and also finished in the top 5 in 1953, 54, 56. He won 3 World Series titles and 4 LCS titles. In his second year on the ballot, Carter was named on 100% of submitted ballots.

Ken Shoffner retired after the 1960 season with 330 home runs (still 17th all time), 1109 RBIs and 1041 runs scored. He still ranks in the all time top 10 in career batting average (6th at .332), on base percentage (3rd at .412), slugging percentage (6th at .582) and OPS (5th at .995). "The Shoff" also had 8 straight years with 30 or more home runs with more than 100 RBIs in 7 of those years (and 99 in the 8th). Shoffner was elected with 75% of the vote.

Albie Baker is perhaps the best pitcher in CYL history to never win a Cy Young Award. He is in the All-time top 10 in Wins (5th-211), ERA (7th- 3.44), CG (4th- 96) and SHO (1st- 32). He spent his entire 13-year career in the rotation for Milwaukee, winning 2 World Series titles, 4 LCS titles and appearing in the LCS 7 times. He won 20 games only once (25 in 1954) but won 15 or more 10 times. Baker was named by 100% of the voters in his 3rd year on the ballot.

Lou Distaso spent 15 years in the CYL with Milwaukee and St Louis. He won two World Series titles, 6 LCS titles and appeared in the LCS 12 times. He won 20 games 3 times and never won fewer than 15 in an 11 year period from 1952-1962. Distaso also saved 54 games early in his career. He is in the top 10 all-time in Wins (252-3rd), GS (433-8th), SHO (25-4th), ERA (3.07-3rd), WHIP (1.14-2nd) and K's (2098-5th). He was a 10-time All Star, winning the Cy Young in 1960 and the Fireman Award in 1950 and 51. He was named on 100% of the ballots in his first year of eligibility.

Freddy Franklin, was the league's only 300 game winner at the time of his retirement with 301. He also sits 3rd in Shutouts with 30 and Ks with 2216, 11th in CG and ERA and 1st in games started. He won 20 games 7 times and 16 or more games 14 of his 15 years in the league. He is the owner of the top 4 highest win seasons in league history, including the record of 27 in 1960. He won on World Series winning teams 3 times, and LCS winners 8 times in 13 tries. He was named of 100% of the ballots cast.
Class of 1967

Terrell played with 4 teams in his 17 year career, but spent the final 13+ of those seasons in St Louis. He won 3 World Series titles in 6 appearances and played in 13 League Championship Series. He hit 30+ home runs 7 times, drove in 100+ runs 7 times, scored 100+ runs 10 times and had a career average of .305. At the time of his retirement he was 11th in career home runs (409), 9th in rbi's (1550) and runs (1686), 13th in hits (2703) and 6th in stolen bases (375) while playing the bulk of his career at SS. His career totals place him 2nd at the position in home runs and runs scored, 1st in rbi's, and 3rd in stolen bases and hits. He is also 5th all-time and 1st at his position in triples with 129. Terrell was a 12-time All Star, 10 times as a starter.

Mackey ?The Knife? Newcombe retired as a 10 time all star and the single season home run king with 59 big flies in 1950. He also has 5 of the top 20 single season home run totals. He is in the top 20 all time in walks 960 (12th), hits 2698 (14th), (Home Runs 534 (2nd), RBIs 1677 (6th), Runs 1534 (14th), OPS .949 (14th) Slg Pct .564 (12th), doubles 472 (8th), ABs 8620 (13th) and GP 2293 (8th). Newcombe had 10 seasons of 100+ Rbi's and 3 with over 50 HR's.

The best hitter ever to play in the CYL, Tettleton is 1st all-time in HR (671), Hits (4009), RBI (2494) and Runs (2480). He is also 8th in SLG (.570), 7th in OPS (.976), 7th in AVG (.327) and 8th in triples (122). He owns 3 WS rings in 10 appearances and played in the LCS 16 times in his 19 year career spent entirely in Detroit. He owns 6 combined MVP awards, in cluding 5 straight (1954-58, 60) as well as 2 AL MVP awards (1961, 63) for a total of 8.

He was combined ROY in 1951 and was NL MVP in 3 consecutive years (1961-63). He owns 4 WS rings in 8 appearances, and played in the LCS 16 times. He spent his entire 18-year career in St Louis. Stengel is a 13-time All-Star.

He was also 2nd all time in SOs (1651) and 20th in CS (103). Gura recieved 71% of the vote in 1969 and was voted to the hall in 1971.

'The Hammer' is 2nd all-time in SV (648), 1st in APP (1746), 10th in WHIP (1.20) and 1st in ERA (2.86). Very impressive numbers for a reliever. He won 3 WS titles in 10 appearances and played in the LCS 16 times. Kirk received 71% of the vote in 1969 and was elected with 100% in 1971.

and 18 or more another 3. he had perhaps the best season of any pitcher not to win the cy young in 1960 when he went 22-3 with a 2.28 ERA, a whip of 1.22 and 209 K's in 260 IP, losing by 6 votes to hall-of-famer lou ditaso. bella is 2nd all-time is SO (39), 5th in CG (108), 13th in wins (229), 20th in ERA (3.61), and 7th in K's (2434). he is also one of only two pitchers in league history to record 200+ K's in one season. He was named to the hall on 1971.

retired as the CYL's all time leader in saves with 702. His 3.43 era would be 14th all time if he had enough innings to qualify. Dwight won 4 NL fireman of the year awards , 1 league wide FOY (finshiing second twice) and was an all star 13 straight times from 1955 to 1968. He was named to the hall with 100% of the vote in 1971.

Johnson, formerly known as Ron Ceyy, retires as a 3 time MVP and 13 time all star. He sits in the top 20 all time in most offensive categories notably HRs (2nd), RBIs (6th), hits (7th), and Runs (7th). He won 3 WS titles in 8 appearances and played in the playoffs 15 times. He received 100% of the vote in 1971.

One of the best pitchers in CYL history; Bill West completed a long career in Cincinnati with 210 wins (19th all time when he retired), 87 losses and 60 saves. He also had a career ERA of 3.13 (tied for 6th) and WHIP of 1.16 (5th) in 1259 appearances (3rd behind HoFer's Curry and Kirk). West was an all star 11 times, made 12 playoff appearances, winning 4 ws titles in 5 attempts. West won more than 10 games as a reliever in each of his last 11 seasons including 5 times winning 15 or more. He received 80% of the vote in 1971.

Thomason played his entire 21 year career with detroit, winning 4 world series titles, 12 pennants and appearing in the lcs 18 times. He had 11 consecutive 100 rbi seasons and scored 100 runs 9 times. he had 12 straight 20 hr seasons, including 5 straight seasons of 30. He is 6th all-time with 489 HR, 4th in RBI (1976), 9th in runs (1821) and is one of only 10 players with 3000 hits. He also stole 308 bases. He was elected to the Hall with 75% of the vote in 1971.

He ranks 13th in Complete Games, 11th in shutouts.
