An overdue move, they should've canned him back in preseason...November 07, 2005 at 08:37PM View BBCode
I'm amazed at the stupidity of Owens. Last February he was a god in Philadelphia after his huge performance in the Super Bowl and the fact that he played hurt and everything. If he wanted more money, he probably could have gotten it if he went about it in a mature way. The city would have supported him. He's also an idiot for constantly dissing Donovan McNabb because the fans in Philly have a lot of respect for McNabb as he too has played many games hurt (like this entire year, for example) and delivered for the fans. His little heart-to-heart chats with Michael Irvin were pretty annoying as well. The thing about Owens is that it doesn't really matter who his QB is, he's still gonna bitch and moan. Jeff Garcia, Donovan McNabb, hell Jesus Christ could be his quarterback and he'd still find fault with him. And it doesn't matter how many times you throw him the ball - it will never be enough. Or how much money you pay him because in his mind he's still entitled to more. Good riddance. I just wish that the Eagles had done this sooner. Hopefully T.O. will take this as a sign that it's time to shut up.November 07, 2005 at 08:42PM View BBCode
This is why I sing the praises of one Marvin Harrison. He goes out, does his job, just as good as the next guy, and he has no qualms whatsoever with anybody.November 07, 2005 at 10:17PM View BBCode
In a bit of irony, Marvin Harrison's hometown is Philadelphia.November 07, 2005 at 10:21PM View BBCode
I have a feeling Marvin Harrison is a lot more high-strung than you think, you just never hear about it. Receivers man, they're a weird bunch.November 07, 2005 at 10:30PM View BBCode
To be honest, Owens is not the problem in Philadelphia this season. His antics are masking the real issues which include but are not limited to: Andy Reid's insistance on throwing the ball upwards of 50 times a game which contributes to the inability to estabish a running game, the inability to establish a running game, the inconsistent play from former all pros at corner back, quarterback, running back, defensive end and safety, the inability to generate anything via special teams (with the brief exception of the Chargers game) thanks in no small part to the loss of JR Reid to injury and Ike Reese to the Falcons, the stubbornness of management in contract negotiations which led to Corey SImon ending up in Indianapolis for nothing and Philadelphia being woefully thin at the defensive tackle position, former first round picks getting shot, and not but not least ABE.November 07, 2005 at 10:42PM View BBCode
To be honest, Owens is not the problem in Philadelphia this season.

Right now I am only hearing of two teams that might take him on. Oakland and Atlanta. Atlanta has been looking for a number 1 reciever for quite some time and Owens lives in Atlanta. Oakland has a history of taking on renegade playersNovember 07, 2005 at 10:52PM View BBCode
There's no way Oakland can afford the rest of his contract, what with the money threy're already paying Moss, Porter and Woodson, I believe that's quite enough egos to deal with already...November 07, 2005 at 10:56PM View BBCode
I guess if the Eagles were going to do this at all they should have done it in the preseason. After they didn't do it then, I think they probably should have just waited until the offseason and tried to trade him. His trade value will be significantly lower now that everyone knows they have to trade him. They probably would have won more games and maybe made the playoffs, too. Making the playoffs with a guy who pisses everyone off is probably better than missing them without him, especially if you are just going to get rid of the guy in the offseason. And, most importantly now that they've suspended him I have two fantasy teams which are completely screwed, I don't understand how Philly didn't take this into account.November 07, 2005 at 10:56PM View BBCode
The Raiders could probably survive him, because they can survive anyone. Of course, that ignores the fact that the last thing they need is another receiver who needs the ball all the time. Kerry Collins isn't a long-term fix, and Norv Turner is a pushover who probably won't last through next year, so who cares if TO comes in there and speeds up the process.November 07, 2005 at 11:21PM View BBCode
So what does that leave us with? The teams I can think of that could use a game-breaking receiver:November 07, 2005 at 11:24PM View BBCode
Well the Packers seem like the obvious choice, don't they?November 07, 2005 at 11:26PM View BBCode
send him to Green Bay. we may only go 5-11 but Brett has no skill players to work with in what could be his last season.November 07, 2005 at 11:28PM View BBCode
That's what I was thinking. This team is fighting for any gasp of respectibility and teaming Owens with a healthy Walker will give Favre a reason to hang on one more season. Of course, Favre said he will probably retire if Sherman gets axed, a very likely event right now, so who knows...November 07, 2005 at 11:32PM View BBCode
I don't think Vermeil will want Owens, he seems too emotional and crap to let him on his team. The Ravens probably won't take them, because I think most of their players still hate Owens for refusing to go there a few seasons ago. I doubt Owens would want to go there anyway, because they don't have a quarterback. I could see Minnesota taking him I guess, but they just got rid of Moss and Owens may be an even bigger pain in the ass. The question is whether they think Culpepper sucked enough this season that they must get a great receiver. I think the Dolphins would want him but I doubt he wants to go to a team with that shitty of a quarterback. Owens may like Favre, but does Favre like Owens? I doubt it. If he bashed Walker, imagine what he will say about Owens. I don't know if Favre will even be there next season though. I have no clue about the Seahawks, to be honest. They could use a big play receiver, though.November 07, 2005 at 11:40PM View BBCode
Like I said, Holmgren won't want to touch Owens and we just got done unloading our own problem child, Koren Robinson...November 08, 2005 at 12:56AM View BBCode
I know I somewhat in the minority on this one, but I feel the Eagles should have taken the man who all but carried his team in the Super Bowl, where most told him he was risking his future by playing, and rewarded him. I mean, his post-Super Bowl critizism of McNabb in the public was bogus, but actually right. I know I was screaming at the TV while watching the end of that game.November 08, 2005 at 01:11AM View BBCode
Vermiel will not touch Owens. Last spring he was quoted as saying he wouldn't take Moss here if Moss was willing to play for free and Minnesota wanted nothing in return. Plus, KC is kind of small-town. The first time T.O. got the slightest bit out of line, the entire town would turn on him and is narcissistic (sp?) psyche would never recover.November 08, 2005 at 01:56AM View BBCode
I hope GB does not pick up Owens. Anyone who could upset the Philly fans after his play in the super bowl would not be enjoyed in GB. If this is Favre's last season does the team need Owens knuckheaded shit going on? Of course they do! I bet they give up a first round pick, KGB and Driver for him. I mean what need would we have for Driver with a nice man like T.O. catching the ball? Maybe T.O. could come up here and play both sides DB and Wide out. Lord knows when the season in Madison ends we might try and get some of those kids to suite up and play defense.November 09, 2005 at 08:03AM View BBCode
How much fun would it be to watch him in Oakland?November 09, 2005 at 06:32PM View BBCode
Atlanta Falcons. Vick needs a reciever Owens is his man. Whether it works out well or not I don't know but they will probably end up with him.November 09, 2005 at 06:34PM View BBCode
I dont know about Atlanta . . . They run the ball about 70% of the time. Im sure Owens would love thatPages: 1 2
