Phillies Hopes the Gate(s) is open

The Phillies have struggled at third ever since trading Kennedy to Cincy. The Phillies GM is very happy with the trade. Gates think the move to third won't be a problem...Gates is quoted "I played third in JC, so should'nt be a problem........"

Shocking news ripped through the Eastern seaboard on the tails of the Johnny Gates trade. A Monuments team spokesmen who has aked to remain anonymous was quoted as saying; "Wow what a relief. I can't believe we unloaded that boozer. Johnny Gates is a mean drunk, a womanizer and a cancer in the clubhouse...good riddens! It's like a cloud has lifted ....and then drifted up to Philly!"

Gates was asked to comment about rumors that came out of Washington, about his conduct on and off the field. Gates replied, "Two comments, the switch to third is proving to be easier than I thought and the GM's wife came on to me, caught me when I was drunk and after a fist fight with Gleason over who missed the coverage on a double play attempt, what can I say, I was vulnerable and the GM's wife took advantage of me." When asked how long the affair went on with the GM's wife, his response was "NO COMMENT".
