2nd XI vs Westcliff - Won by 10 Wickets

Upminster second XI continued their fine start to the season, annihilating Westcliff in what must be one of the most extraordinary games ever to grace Upminster park.

With leaden skies and a green top track, Upminster skip Jeff Mack had no hesitation in asking the visitors to strap the pads on first. After 3 relatively insipid overs from new ball pairing Bobby Mack and Tommy Langston, the mauling was to begin. Mack struck first, trapping Sloman leg before for a duck. And with 2 wickets in Mack's next over Westcliff were wobbling at 5 for 3. Some uncultured slogging from Westcliff's number 4 got the visitors up to 22 before he was also dismissed by Mack for 13, the only batter to reach double figures. Not to be outdone by his new ball partner, Tommy Langston got in on the act. Bowling with accuracy and hitting the seam with consummate ease, young Langston scalped the last 6 hapless Westcliff batsmen with just 9 more runs being added to the total as the sea siders crumbled to 31 all out. Langston following up the previous week's 6 wicket haul to end with 6-21, Mack's fine figures read 7-3-8-4 and the Westcliff batting card looked more like binary numbers than a cricket score.

Just 7 overs were needed for Upminster's opening pairing of Simon Mayes and Russ Murphy to guide their side home without any alarm, Mayes finished unbeaten on 23 while Murphy was 10 not out. The whole match lasted less than 90 minutes, finishing at one minute to three, just in time for the victorious hosts to watch the FA cup final.

F**K yeah! Winning by ten wickets is the SHIZNIT!!
