Message Board Times and Daylight Savings
April 03, 2005 at 04:06PM View BBCode
The message board software doesn't handle daylight savings very well. Every time we spring forward or fall back, I have to manually go into the message boards and tell the software to move us ahead or behind an hour.
The reason we make this adjustment is that 90% of our customers are in the U.S. and in areas that observe daylight savings.
If you're in the U.K., I believe they do daylight savings about 2 weeks after the U.S. So you can have the times wrong for 2 weeks, or correct it using the instructions below then switch back in 2 weeks.
If you live somewhere that didn't do daylight savings this morning, then you'll need to make an adjustment to your "GMT OffSet" for the times to remain correct on the message boards.
Click on Control Panel/Options above, then click on Edit Profile. Towards the bottom you'll see a dropdown menu for Time OffSet. Choose the timezone that makes your time correct.

Britian had their daylight savings last weekend between Sat and Sun.

Oh, I couldn't remember. I used to know all this stuff back when I worked for a company that had offices all over the world. Everytime daylight savings came up, all our conference calls got screwed up in a Dilbert-esque fashion because nobody could figure out what time it was anywhere else in the world.
Glad daylight savings is finally here. I'm contemplating not falling back this year and declaring my house part of the Eastern time zone for the winter. It sucks in December when it gets dark out at 4PM in Minnesota.

Minnesota is an whole different world from Texas.
The darkness is only one thing you all have to think about that time of year.

*bump*
This will affect the message boards tomorrow until I reset it. Probably around 10 or 11AM Eastern Time.
