Is it your A+ health
or your speedy trips around
golden basepaths that make me
count the hours until
the next of year
when your ratings will rise
as the Philsosphers fortunes rise once again
Hither and beyond we search for youth
youth that is wasted on the adversaries
American and National
who would steal our picks and
have them turn against us.
Roy, take us to the land where golden rings
will again adorn our fingers and laughter will be commonplace
within the musty confines of the Dante's Inferno
known as the clubhouse
Let us go from this place a better club
and Roy
make the difference in winning and defeat.
If agony must follow us
Make the agony brief and the benefits of our struggle
manifest into a better season ahead.
Lead us not into our bullpen
but deliver the big hit
and run to the sunlight
and into a field of corn.
