Terps complete sweep...

It took them until overtime to do it but Maryland beat Duke last night to complete the sweep. It's the first time since the 1994-95 season that Duke has been swept. Duke's big three of Redick, Ewing, and Williams got very little help from the role players and that was probably key to the loss. Maryland focused pretty much all its D to stop those three (and each of them had good games despite that) but guys like Shavlik Randolph who were left open missed open shots. Randolph missed a few wide open shots and fouled out with no points in the game.

Gilchrist stole the show in the first half which Maryland. Maryland lead for almost all of the first half but never by a very big margin. Shelden Williams was a beast on the inside for Duke as he almost had a double-double going into halftime. He got into foul trouble though which hampered him at the defensive end. Foul trouble and missed free throws (even J.J. Redick missed one) caused Duke's downfall along with Maryland's aggressive play. It seems that over the past few years Duke always seems to bring out the best in Maryland.

This year Maryland has been a streaky team. They beat Duke once before but then lost to Clemson. They got blown out by NC State as well it will be interesting to see what happens to them come tourney time.

Duke didn't get Redick the ball enough, at least it didn't seem like it to me. It was a great game. I knew Maryland was going to win once it got to overtime because Williams was out.

I use to hate Duke. I have no idea why I stopped hating them, I just did. Now I don't really care.

I don't start paying attention to basketball in general until after the Super Bowl so I have to get caught up on alot of things.

Well, Boston College is doing unusually well. OU has been losing alot of games as of late and there are unseen signs that the Longhorns are going to win it all this year.

lol. Texas needs Tucker to (somehow) become elgible, and Jesus himself to heal LeMarcus Aldridge's hip. But that won't happen, so Texas will probably make the tournament and may win a game if Gibson plays well. Illinois, Syracuse, Kansas, and North Carolina will make the final four. Illinois will win and end the season undefeated, contrary to what I said before.

You can say that again.

No, not the "win it all" part. Just the part in boldface.

What are these "unseen signs" you refer to?

Wouldn't it defeat the purpose if he pointed them out?

It's too bad UMD had to ban the chants of "Fuck Duke" and "Fuck Red Dick"

I noticed that too. He still ended up with his usually 18-25 points (I don't remember how many it was exactly) but I can't remember him getting as many touches as Ewing or Williams. Part of the reason that he didn't leave his mark on the game is because Maryland was willing to commit all of their defense to stopping him, Ewing, and Williams. They were going to give anyone else open shots all night but the other guys couldn't knock them down.
