Glad that Grant Hill made the cut. The Vince Carter selection only shows how precious little fans know about basketball. Steve Nash clearly should be starting over both Kobe and McGrady (besides, where's the point guard, anyway?).

James has been playing Forward basically all season - at least starting. Until Ira Newble went down with an injury. Would be a more intriguing starting lineup in the East with James and Carter playing Forward, and Iverson and Dwayne Wade playing the Guards.

I can't think of any time that Carter actually deserved to be an allstar starter, yet he continues getting voted for by idiots. Hill deserved it, I was happy for that. I probably would have made the west backcourt Nash and McGrady.

Yea, either what Tyson said or just put Wade instead of Iverson.

No kidding. He takes bad shots, is not a team player, dogs it worse than Randy Moss when he doesn't feel like playing hard, and contributes almost nothing beyong his scoring. But he made that one really cool elbow dunk during All-Star Week one time, so he's a legend in my book!

Times like these, I really wish ol' LeBron was around to tell us about how great Carter is. It's people like him who make Vinsanity an All Star.

The funny thing is that Toronto has been better without Carter.

Bill Simmons' Ewing Theory in action again.

Yeah, I agree. Definitely the Ewing theory with the Raptors.

My suggestion was based off of someone who doesn't have the NBA package anymore, so I've probably only watched 10 NBA games this season, besides flipping on the T-Wolves for a few minutes during commercials and stuff. I just have always liked Iverson.

I would have made it Nash and Allen. Both are more deserving than Kobe and Tmac.

hobos allstars:

Nash
Allen
Nowitzki
Garnett
Stoudamire

Wade
Arenas
Hill
LeBron
Shaq

This is why fan voting needs to be done away with. Infamous ball hogs (Iverson, Kobe, Tmac), 8' monsters with little proven ability in the states (Yao), and fan favorites who aren't having great seasons (Carter, Duncan) make the team when they shouldn't.

hobos list is pretty good, though I'd take Antawn Jamison or Jermaine O'Neal (despite the suspension) over Grant Hill. Hill has played good, but not great like he was in Detroit before he turned into Ken Griffey Jr.

I debated on Hill. O'Neal, the Wallaces, and Jamison all would be good enough , in my opinion,to beat him, but I kept Hill because I didn't think any of those guys were more than marginally better

giving the fact that my basketball knowledge is pretty limited I like most of it except Kobe, Vince Carter and Grant Hill. I haven't read anything but the first post in this thread so far but those 3 seem to be nothing more than reputaion picks to me.

Hill has surprised me so far though, I never thought he would be close to this good again.

Kobe belongs but im not sure he should be starting. Hill deserves to be there but Carter is taking someones spot who does belong simply because he was hugely popular a few years back

I agree Kobe belongs but not as a starter.

BTW I give it 1 month until Paul Pierce is traded

Did you just say duncan doesnt deserve to be an allstar? He is quietly averaging a double double on the season and lead the spurs to the top of the west. Only KG has more double doubles than duncan. he #2 in blocks and 3rd in rebounds. 18th in scoring. thats ranked out of the whole NBA not by position or west. He doesnt deserve it? your on crack if you think he didnt deserve it.

I rather see allen, nash or ginoboli over mcgrady and kobe. amare instead of yao. jamisson over carter.

Duncan deserves to go, but this sn't his best season. He'd be a much better choice than Ming, unfortunately he's a forward on the ballot. Dirk may not have as many blocks and reounds, but he has more steals, 3 pointers, and a better FT%. Very debatable. However, if Duncan can be a center, he is easily the best

Carter has picked it up since coming to Jersey. He was averaging a career low 15.9 ppg at the time he was traded but is now at a shade over 20 a game. He has been on a tear for the last two weeks or so where he has averaged nearly 30 a game and he had that huge game against Detroit where he went head-to-head with Tayshaun Prince and scored 41 points, grabbed 11 boards and had 5 assists. He also got matched up with Rasheed Wallace on the defensive end an awful lot because Krstic and Collins were in fould trouble for most of the game and contained 'Sheed pretty well. I don't think he deserves to be an allstar starter but he does deserve to be on the team, although I can't say that for some of the Allstar teams that he has made in the past. I would move James up to foward and put Wade in as the point guard. Nash definitely deserves to be the starting point guard for the West as well.

duncan compared to duncan he is not producing as usual but duncan compared to the rest he is having a good year. dirk is having a good year but he isnt a 4. He just cant defend down in the blocks, he gets backed in and its over. dirk is more 3 maybe even 2 guard.i think amare should have been listed as a 5, i would much rather see him than yao.

Carter is tearing it up now but a month of good play doesnt make some1 an all star starter. he just a name that people know.

He's been on even more of a tear over this past week. He had 43 against the Sixers and would have had 60 against the Spurs if he hadn't been ejected because of the (bull shit) second T (he had 42 or 43 through three quarters.) But that doesn't erase the average start he had. I think he should be a reserve this year, definitely not a starter.

Dirk has improved defensively this year so it is not necessarily over when hes backed into the paint.

I will give credit for dirk improving his D but i just dont see him defending duncan,KG, shaq, amare, yao, or k mart with any real threat. I give any of the people i listed the ball against dirk in the blocks. i bet 9/10 times all them work dirk hardcore. And 1/10 they barely miss the hook or the ball takes a bad bounce off the rim.

P.S add to the list webber and J Oneal. gasol maybe 7/10.
