Restarting BOTH Leagues & Mentoring System

November 12, 2004 at 09:46PM View BBCode

I have a rudimentary version of the Mentoring System ready. Since the improvements were so out of whack for a few seasons there with that bug, I decided we should restart both leagues. Also, I wanted to give the long term league a chance to play with the new draft system.

I will be resetting the leagues in the next hour or so.

This may be the final time that I reset the leagues for awhile, so draft with the long-term in mind. I would like these leagues to be as competitive and active as the private leagues so that we can get a sense of how this will really play out. So play like its for real (whatever that means).

If there is anyone that is not interested in being part of the beta leagues any longer, please let me know so I can replace you now. If you're willing to be active and help me track down bugs, please post a response so I know.

I might replace some of the less active members if I don't hear from them.

I'll post details on the Menoring system in a seperate thread.

Can't wait to play with the mentoring season.

Of course we have to restart just as my team is in first:rolleyes:

And if it matters, I'm willing to be active and post about bugs and all that fun stuff

Oh, I have a couple spots open as well. If you have someone to recommend to me for the beta league, U2U me and I'll take that in consideration when inviting people.

Actually, I'm going to hold off until Monday to reset the leagues. I want to run some games on beta with the new system in place to get some feedback first.

I'm staying.

Could you lay out some of the basics of the mentoring system, such as what age players need to be to be mentors (28 and up? 30 and up? 28 and up but 35 year olds are better mentors than 28 year olds?)?

When do you plan the re-start draft?

How much time are we going to have to play around with the initial draft preferences once the leagues are reset? At this point I'm not even sure what system we're using for that.

I want to continue and try to work out the bugs to improve such a great game. I've been wanting a mentoring system ever since I started playing the game. Looking forward to testing it in action. Hope we have some time to set our initial settings for the intial draft.

We'll be using the new draft logic. I'll give everyone at least a couple days to set prefs.

Both leagues have been reset and draft pools should be finished populating in a few minutes.

looks good. Ok, refresh my memory, if I have 4 in RP and 13 in SP, next round I have 4 SP and 13 RP(technically 17 in each), correct? Also, what positions go with each other? Just trying to get an idea of how to set everything up. Thanks.

SP-RP
C-1B

3B-LF
SS-CF

You should be able to view a chart of where teams are selecting by clicking on Draft Order on the Initial Draft menu.

yes, I saw that. But just want to make sure that it loops around for every position. So if you are drafting 1st for SP, you'll be 16th for SP in the 2nd round, then 1st for the 3rd round, etc.

Yes, that is correct.

I'm still interested in doing beta. I'll try and set my draft preferences soon.

The Poppa is setting his preferences and will be ready today. Whew! So much more to think about. I wonder if all this thinking will make a difference? I wish there was a way to the differences if I just set my points and let ABE do it all and then a run with every one doing their thinking/planning.

I imagine this is tucked into one of the threads someplace but I can't find it -- how many draft rounds per position? Is it a fixed number that automatically applies to everyone (so that, in effect, every team will end up with a positional breakdown looking kind of like the old "totally balanced" rosters)?
