Lineup Question???

March 11, 2003 at 08:31AM View BBCode

Hello. I am new to this Sim Site and cannot figure out this lineup thing. The draft just finished and I went to set my lineup vs. righties/lefties..........and when I switched it I got an ERROR message. I do have the right number in the lineup and the right positions....don't understand the problem...PLEASE HELP...... I did notice that I have a catcher playing first and a first baseman playing second (this was the default lineup)..............and that is why I did the changes..............after all, you cannot have a your infielders playing outfield.....firsts playing second......seconds playing short........etc....etc.......

any help at all would be appreciated......and before I am told to read the rulebook.....I did that, and didn't find anything helpful to my particular query.

I am in the Al Lopez league....team Detroit. Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard. If you follow these steps, I'm pretty sure you'll fix the problem.

First, make sure you have between 40 and 50 players total. If you have too few, go to the waiver wire and claim enough to get you to 40. If you have too many, go to the waiver wire and waive enough players to get you down to 50. You need at least 10 pitchers and at least 15 position players (but at least 40 total).

Once that is done, make sure you have 25 players in the majors -- precisely 10 pitchers and 15 position players. If you have too many or too few, promote/demote some to the minors as appropriate to reach the correct number in the majors. Then double check to make sure you have between 15 and 25 minor leaguers -- this shouldn't be an issue if you followed the above steps.

For your hitters, a lot of times the issue is that you've mistakenly got two guys hitting 6th, or two guys playing LF. So, double check to ensure you have somebody hitting in each of the 8 spots in the order. Also make sure you have one guy playing each position. Repeat this for lineups vs. RHP and vs. LHP.

For pitchers, make sure you have 5 starters listed 1st through 5th. Make sure you have each of the 5 bullpen roles filled: Closer, Setup/Closer, Setup, Middle and Long.

I hope this solves your problem.

Thank you for the help...it was a bench issue...I did not realize that if the player was not in the starting lineup it had to say bench on both sides.......I was keeping the position...and benching the batting order............

thanks for the very quick reply and help! I appreciate it very much!
