So why do owners who need young pitching or replacements in the infield in 4 seasons etc. Draft the quick fix player. Who doesn't always turn out to be that.
What is the mindset for most owners when drafting?

I have asked advice for drafts and gotten good stuff from it. The main thing being draft youth 16-19 if you can. So every draft I rank those kids the highest on my draft boards. Yet every season there is that 7-8 guys that draft the older 20 somethings and on occasion the 30 yo Japanese player that plays 4 years and then suddenly leaves you in a lerch. In the first round.So why do owners who need young pitching or replacements in the infield in 4 seasons etc. Draft the quick fix player. Who doesn't always turn out to be that.

It's a case by case basis, but the majority of the time these owners are making a mistake. They could draft the really good teenage prospect, and likely trade him for a better player to fill in a hole in the rotation or infield, then what they got in the draft. Reaching based on position or age is almost always a critical error.

But for the most part my Youth ratio is 40 or higher and I'm going after the teens with close bundling.

As a rebuilding team I have done this - drafted a red letter foreign import player in the first round - with the hope of flipping the codebit to a contender come SimSummer for two or three players/picks. Sometimes it works, sometimes you're stuck and hope the player's Mentor score gets good.But for the most part my Youth ratio is 40 or higher and I'm going after the teens with close bundling.

I project players' ratings at 30 and draft the best player available. Regardless of where I am (rebuilding or not), though I'm rarely in a rebuilding mode.Pages: 1
