(Baltimore) The Beer Barons of the JDL announced today the return of perennial All-Star and hometown favorite, Myrl Barnes. The veteran first baseman will play the 2037 season for his 15th year in the league, and his team will be tracking each hit. Barnes sits currently at 2834 career hits, leaving him only 166 shy of the coveted 3000-hit mark. Last season he hit 182. Age is catching up with the soon-to-be 37-year old slugger, who has managed to lead the league in hits five times. The Beer Barons have installed a giant countdown display in center-field to keep track of the historic march. With 13 career All-Star appearances, 3 AL MVP trophies, and three championship rings, Barnes is a likely candidate for the Hall of Fame anyway, and 3000 hits could just be icing on the cake. But it sure would be sweet.September 14, 2017 at 12:46AM View BBCode
I remember trying to trade for him years ago. #HalloffamerSeptember 14, 2017 at 04:54AM View BBCode
The good news, he's in the AL. The bad news, never got to face him. Well, the WS one season, at least he didn't kill us. Good luck and we'll be rooting for you. KW PS You've got our vote.Pages: 1
