Bring out your busts!

August 21, 2017 at 10:39PM View BBCode

Wanted to see if any other brave souls wanted to share their busts with the rest of us. As we all know, early detection is key to unloading busts onto unsuspecting owners. I'm sure everyone has had at least one with VD in place this long.

Two examples from my team:

[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11820408&statsorimps=imps]Johnny Compton[/url] - Straight up BUST. Should have easily ended up with A+ power, instead he's a B+ player only due to elite speed.

[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11878177&statsorimps=imps]Bill Patten[/url] - My first rounder the year after Compton whiffed too. Bill looks like he did fine in the majors, but there isn't a bust in minors/average in majors curve and I don't think he'd qualify as a gem in majors.

This was also a chance for me to play with making gif's. Look, there's a whole story starring Pittsburgh's very own Johnny Compton. It ain't long, but the video file is too big to convert into one gif.

Please enjoy the sim-tastic typo in there too.

After converting at a nice rate in the minors

Ray Gorman C http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=11820404&statsorimps=imps

has flamed out in the Majors after being handed the starting role he only converted a pitiful 1 for 125 in conversions in OS age 28 and 29 right when it looked like he would be a shoe in to reach red letters. On top of that he has forgotten how to hit. He is batting a whopping .182 this year after batting .227 last year. He has also forgot how to throw out runners as his % throwing out runners has dropped every year. Where has the Gorman from 3 years ago gone? Anyone?

Jocko Wotus http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12074911&statsorimps=imps

Not a bust, his first two season I thought he was a gem, he should be our closer of the future, but after that he couldn't convert a thing, at 20 y/o he discovered alcohool, womem and started a live of parties, he was never the same.

I still not sure what he is, I think he is an eureka, but he could be an enigma.
Also could be a bust in minors/ gem in majors and his two first seasons was just an accident.

Yes, I really do.

Gorman reached his pinnacle and is ready to coast to retirement. It does add a flavor or realism to the game as sometimes guys just flame out early. I had the opposite in the JJL where a pitcher was terrible his entire career. Then at OS 35 he runs away with the Cy Young for the only All-Star appearance of his career.

I like Jocko's back story but Paul might be right. He may have needed to come up a year earlier and take his licks but you were contending so he didn't have a spot. I've struggled with these types too because you don't want to waste them but you also don't want to ruin your chances with a liability.

It is hard to believe that he is in a regular season with a OS 22 convertion of 6/70 (with 3 in endurance), but you never know.
It is harder to evaluate the curve when you mix it with WPM, he was 2/4 in the majors at OS 23 with WPM +15%, now he'll get a lot of chances at OS24 but our WPM will be something like -15%, so if he doesn't convert anything I can blame it on WPM. Also there are three types of Enigmas, he could be in one weird type.

There are also three different types of Eurekas, which type has different eureka's ages. I guess one of this types has Eureka's ages at OS18 and OS19. What would be the others?

LOL at the gifs!!! Hahahahahahah!

It happened to me, slowjoe offered me Dominic Rhoden ( http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12347137&statsorimps=imps ) because he probably thought he was a bust, but I was pretty sure he is a gem in the minors/bust in the majors. I accepted and it looks like I'm right.

9 for 76 raises questions about gem in minors/bust in majors. That's rough for a normal curve at that age, really bad if he's a gem in minors.

Hard to argue with his progress this year. Maybe he's on a Josh Hamilton curve where he disappears for 3 years before getting his life together.

This is the guy that tricked me into thinking he was a Bust. It looks like he's a Late Bloomer?

The gif's are hilarious! Makes me think of all our players that go on the DL with "just a flesh wound."

Hah! Might have to be the next project. I think I have some guys that always end up hurt that could set up an ABE vs Injuries gif

1 out of 27 on Peters... I would have bailed too. Maybe he's on a change of scenery curve?

here's another guy on the "change of scenery" curve:

that Allietta deal was a real blockbuster! great and fascinating trade for both sides.

Here is the real statement to the strength of this league. They have not cracked the playoffs yet with that rotation. Pretty Sure that will end this year. I know the boys in the Autoworkers rotation hope to get a crack against them some day.

Time to throw him on the cart?

[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12510212&statsorimps=imps]Levon Clemons[/url] had a great first season in the minors, but now looks like an enigma. His development does not look normal anyway. He was not a great prospect to begin with, and anything less than normal may pretty much doom him. Time to throw him on the cart?

You can never trust those guys named Lefty that throw right handed. 1 for 30 is rough.
