New Team many needs I don't see two B-'s making up two A-'s. What do I miss here?

that he's trying to send you prospects for vets? he isn't attempting to send you players who would contribute now. neither of your guys are all that great, although the reliever has been consistently effective. I wouldn't take this, but it's by no means insulting. something like abbott and hood is probably fair.

Offering Owner's perspective here:
Call me crazy but; my valuation on Abbott is higher than both Jerzembeck and Brashear put together. He'll finish his OS21 season at A/B (2/1 improves) and has an excellent chance of fronting a rotation at A+/B+ A ovr(also a possibility for A+/A-), given where he is in his grades and endurance. Any deal involving him where I don't get back a perennial AS type starter is a no-go.
I agree that the offer is by no means a must-take, but that's more a product of where I am with my contention window(just ending a rebuild) than an unwillingness to up the ante. The two players I'd acquire are a bit ahead of the youth movement I have in place and I'd rather miss the playoffs this season(and possibly next) than jeopardize the length and quality of my upcoming run.
I'm looking at these guys as marginal upgrades that can help me sneak into the playoffs a season or two early, maybe lessen the decline of a key bat, and flip them for peanuts in 2-3 seasons when I don't need them anymore. It may not make for a good deal both ways but their value is very limited for me in the face of what's coming on my roster. Not looking at them as must-haves. If I had a 1st rounder to give I would package it with Hood but he's about the highest quality piece I'm willing to part with at this point.
My feelings would be 0% hurt if this owner shopped those pieces around for a better return using my offer as a benchmark or if he simply held onto them. Just wanted to make my interest known.

Ask for Doc Carrillo back in addition to Hood. Jrthecrsusher is right, Abbott is easily worth more than both of those guys. If he balks, offer a 2nd rounder back.
I just don't see how a A-/A- reliever is worth more than that. The hitter is pretty average and not worth too much.

He countered with Carrillo and Hood and my second and I declined. I don't see those pitchers having red control for many years and by then we would not be contending. I will build in the draft and trade if a real prospect is offered.

You're not going to get good pitchers with red letter control for average players.
Both of those prospects have the potential to turn into decent players if you develop them right.
I'd try and get a playoff pick and one of those pitchers from him then. I would advise against letting your players fade into oblivion with out any return, when reasonable compensation is available.

No hard feelings here - if you feel you can get a team-changing prospect for either or both players by all means you should pursue that avenue. I'd call both of those standing offers, if you want to negotiate with other owners based on them feel free. If you want to hold them into decline rather than "sell low" then that's your prerogative.
If you'd rather turn them into something than watch them rot I'm more than willing to revisit negotiations at a later date once you've had more time to assess things.

Carrilllo and Hood will be good for the period between 5-13 years from now. You should plan to be contending at some point in there.
Brash and Jerzy have outperformed their skills. Turning them into a future #3 SP and a solid middle reliever wouldn't be the worst thing for you. I'd waver at giving up the 2nd round pick too though, you need your picks. Maybe he could throw in Dike Thompson, he's a future Brashear.
