I have mixed feelings about my draft. On the one hand, I managed to pull decent players with the majority of my picks in spite it being a terrible draft. On the other hand, there was a run on cornerbacks at the top of the draft I didn't expect and instead of getting a much-much-needed cornerback, I ended up taking the top DE in the draft. I needed to fill that hole anyway so I can't complain but with no picks upcoming for my team it's going to be a struggle to get the three things I believe I need- a star WR and two competent CBs.
Anyway, you can't always get what you want but I'm certainly in a position to play somewhat competitively for the first time in five seasons.
Pick 5 - Yohan Ridley (DE) - You can get away with one agile non-tackling defensive end, but I had two of them and they weren't stopping anything so I'm happy to have a traditional defensive end to go along with two great DT's that I developed from nothing. Combined with Russ Collins' run blocking and agility, the line should hold. I thought for sure someone else would take him first and I'd end up with one of the corners, but the last A- corner was drafted right before I took Ridley.
Pick 12 - Leopold Prescott (LB) - I tried my damndest to get into the top eight to guarantee that I'd draft two A- players, but it did not work out. Still, considering how thin my linebacker unit was and the lack of pass cover on the defense, getting this B+ PCov B+ RCov linebacker seems to have been an extremely useful acquisition. I could have drafted one of the B+ corners here but none of them had any tackling ability. Prescott's agile, has high pursuit and just needs a little weight training. I wouldn't call it a steal but it was what I needed.
Pick 41 - Demetrius Conte (RB) - The team has gotten old enough for me to invest in a running back and so that's what I did. Frankly, I like him better than the A overall running back because this was the only RB I saw that had any discernible aggression. Good stamina which has been a pitfall of mine when drafting RBs. His carry is only B+ at the moment but his IC development is fairly high. Already having the tertiary skills (agility, speed, break tackle) all in red and with my handy run blocking unit if the preseason is any indication, this was a pretty good pick. He is averaging over 8 yards a carry at the time of writing this in the third quarter of the first preseason game.
Pick 58 - Rich Bell (FB) - I fell in love with this fullback as soon as I saw him. He has something that most fullbacks lack -- the ability to actually run the ball. A run block, A- strength which is a given but he has red agility and B+ speed already, B+ carry and a halfway decent rate of IC growth through college. At the time of writing this he's only touched the ball three times but gained 24 yards. I'm a dork for blocking skills, but having a FB who could legitimately play RB if I needed him too will come in handy on those short yardage situations in which you can't help the fact that the AFE decides to have the FB run the ball.
Pick 114 - Ben Butler (WR) - The D potential and C attitude makes his prospects for growing into a decent B+ WR very low but for a high fourth round pick in THIS draft, this wasn't too bad. A- catch, A- speed, A- jump... technically all he needs is to boost his B+ agility to A-. He's 156th on the WR rankings right now and the first B+ WR on the list is at #126 so this guy will likely end up being an eternal, but proficient, backup. I still need another WR to compliment Rob Sullivan.
Pick 138 - Clifton Sanders (WR) - Same as Ben Butler but with B+ catch, B+ agility, B+ speed and ranked even lower (201). His carry is A- however makes him a possible project for a backup out-of-position running back. I fully expected the draft to peter out at this point so I'm not too upset.
Pick 154 - Lonnie Curtain (FB) Still in the "whatever" pile but not a bad pickup for being this late in THIS draft. B+ strength, A pass blocking... if I develop him a little I could probably figure out a way to use him on passing downs once he has A- strength.
Pick 181 - Glen Crockett (FS) - Trash, waived
All in all I'd give my draft a solid B considering how many waiver-bait players I could have ended up accumulating having so many picks in such a weak draft.
Tried to get out of the draft as vigorously as possible. Traded a high second round pick, got a pretty decent DT. Traded this draft's and a future draft's third rounder for a center whose development is off the charts (fingers crossed), used my 2016 first rounder to get a good FS which closed that hole as well. The defense is missing cornerbacks but is otherwise starting to become stacked. I don't think people will be able to run the ball effectively against this front like they have in the past. Hopefully the safeties and the linebackers have enough pass cover between them to mitigate the problem.
Offense still needs work. I only have one decent receiver and the center is hit or miss.
Still, I leveraged my way out of some older players' contracts trading a top guard to LAN at age 28/29 and a top tackle to DET at age 28/29. People may have wondered why I'd do this, but besides perhaps two players (one of whom isn't even playing) none of my players are over 25/26. I bought the two linemen from Birmingham for one first round pick and leveraged them into two high picks in one draft. Considering all the brain power I've put into this I'm hoping it pays off this year

Las Vegas was in a spot with their roster, especially the offensive line, with the average age being 33 years old. With that in mind I took several offers moving into this draft more to try and get players that could fill the offensive line and hopefully develop as the season goes on. Despite losing some strength on the front line of the offense some retweaking of the offensive gameplan I may be able to continue to compete in a division that surprised me as well as many other owners this last season.
Pick 25 - Jack Johnson T - Jack needs some attitude adjustments, but that shouldn't be hard to adjust even with a C in potential. His A strength and A- run block with B+ pass block and B execution makes him a good solid attribution to the offensive line. Having lost a couple big men to age and deterioration Jack should get plenty of reps in practice and games (even if it is at starting G)
Pick 53 - Jeff Sirmon DE - His B+ strength leaves something to be desired, but his A agility and Run Cover with A- pursuit makes him an intriguing RE #2. He should develop with time and that B+ strength should become red letter before long making him a solid pickup for the second round and a much needed replacement for an older DE.
Pick 87 - Barry Goeddeke T - mediocre attitude, execution and B+ strength he comes in as a replacement on the line when it was needed but the team is hoping that he hits the weight room with a gusto and builds that muscle to stop the defensive players from getting to the QB. A- pass block and B run block makes him a good addition however, and he should get the chance to prove his worth this sooner rather than later.
Pick 117 - Dick Jenkins T - Lots of B+'s across the boards but solid attributes in progression. Should develop well enough to make an impact on a weakened group and hopefully maintain what promised to be a strong unit last season.
Pick 119 - Anthony Rachal DE - Drafted as a DE, he is being transitioned to a LB. His ability to wrap up ball carriers and make the tackle are the biggest concern but his development cannot be understated with A potential and attitude. Looking forward to seeing what this kid can do in a clutch situation three years from now.
Pick 127 - Perry Oehler P - Another position subject to the degradation of age, the punter had to be replaced as well. Perry was the best option out of the group, however, none of them had good standings in future development so the red letter power and accuracy took precedence. His first preseason game didn't go terribly with 9 punts and a 45.1 yard average per punt... the team could do a lot worse.
Pick 159 - Shaun Mack LB - After all the picks to this point having been put on the 53 man roster right out of the gate, Shaun managed to be waived off the team within an hour of being drafted. With intangibles in all the wrong places and no promising future of development he didn't survive the paper evaluations and therefore wasn't given the chance to show what he was capable of, mainly because this isn't college anymore rookie!
Pick 183 - Ted Walker WR -Hopeful developmental traits, but not good enough to make the lineup of active WR's right now. He should get the opportunity to develop into something but for now he sits in reserve.
Pick 191 - Dan Trotter G - Excellent future for this young kid, his blocking needs a lot of development right now but with 32 year old Chuck Briggs still demanding respect and attention he will have the opportunity to develop behind the veterans.
Pick 213 - Devin Hill RB - Trash Junk Crap Waived.
Pick 215 - Leo Curtis G - B strength means he will hopefully never see a game. His blocking is weak and needs a lot of improvement and his potential ratings are average at best. His attitude is high though which leaves hope for the future.
Pick 223 - Potsy Schau G - Not sure what this kids parents were thinking naming their kid Potsy, but hey, maybe they were from the 60's and did some things that they would never tell their children... Good developmental prospect but not much more. Hopefully he isn't needed this season, but being 1 pick away from Mr Irrelevant and making the final cuts to this point has to say a lot for the status of the line to begin with....
Overall I give my draft an A. Despite the serious lack of depth out of this draft, only 2 of LV 12 picks were waived, and 7 were moved to the active roster right out of the gate. The future looks bright for the majority of the youngsters as I drafted for high developmental areas and where my records may take a dip for a season or two, they should go up considerable with a year or two of development.

With only two picks, a Playoff Rd 2 and a Rd 3, Detroit got their 4th and 10th Ranked prospects.

I was lucky to get a solid DE this late in the 2nd Rd. Tipton should be decent if unspectacular i.e. a prototype DET player, for good or ill.

I like G Cunningham more than I probably should, but he feels like he'll start for this team at RG.
I don't have any feeling for DET getting any better than they have been. I keep waiting for QB Snell to produce more than a 69 QB Rating, but he's been worse than mediocre for five seasons now. Until that changes, this team can't go anywhere.
I'll give DET a C+ grade on their Draft, as both players will be okay starters at worst and could produce above their ranks.

I had the 1st overall pick and I had the LT ranked as #1. THe LT had B+ strength and low health. If his strength was at a- I wouldn't have entertained trading down but I did trade down and acquired an extra first in the future.
1) RT - I had him #3 overall. I was hoping to get him once I traded down and forsook the LT.
So, I do have both tackle positions filled but ideally I'd like to get a better player suited for LT and then move this pick to guard.
2) QB - hopefully this is the QB of the future. He's at 4/9 position improves so I believe that bodes well. I had him ranked as the highest QB because of his A+ power and high potential. In my experience accuracy will improve but power will not improve significantly.
3) FB - I had him targeted as one of my later firsts and it worked. I always want a red letter run blocking FB so this is another position filled.
4) WR - I like this WR, so he now I have 2 out of 3 top WR positions filled. I probably need a home run hitter in the next couple drafts.
5) CB - 3rd round. I like this pick for 93rd overall. Maybe only a depth player but I'm giving him a chance at FS, early improves don't look promising.
Still need a stud CB
So going forward,
I did acquire a young center who can be the starter. IDeally Id like someone better but I may have to live with him.
Now, need 2 stud OL, ideally I would like to get a LT but its not the end of the world if its only two guard types.
TE - red letter run blocking and some red letter pass receiving skills.
CB - need a stud, maybe 2
Another stud DL
STud LB who can play MLB, I'll live with the other pieces as the OLB
2 Ol
TE
1 or 2 CB
MLB
DL
7 pieces, with about 7 or more 1st and 2nd rounders in the next 3 drafts
