Jay Bottarini traded by Atlanta to Colorado!

Atlanta and Colorado ever watchful to save on expenses made a trade that required four players to merely change clubhouse in the same stadium.
Atlanta is in Denver for a three game series made a deal with Colorado acquiring two useful pitchers and one with the potential of being a very good starter next season for the Braves.
The Braves and Mockingbirds had been in negotiations for Bottarini for about a week and settled on Atlanta getting thirty year old left handed minor league pitcher Steve Doyle.
Doyle, a thirty year old lefthander from Indianola, Iowa, who attended the University of Iowa before being drafted in the 7th round by the Los Angeles Traffic.
Doyle will pitch at Atlanta's AAA affiliate in Gwinnett, GA.
Atlanta also got a thirty year old right handed reliever Rube Low, a native of Natchitoches, LA. Low has a 2-1 record in 17 games this season with Colorado with a 4.24 ERA.
Atlanta insisted on Alfonso Kim being included in the trade and got him. Kim a sixth round draft pick of the Washington Senators was traded to Colorado by Washington on July 4, 1950 in a deal that included pitching ace Stephen Strassberg going to Washington long with part time outfielder Tony Gwynn forv outfielder Tony Shwinieke, reliever Jesus Wagner, and Kim.
Bottarini according to the Colorado press release has been on their wish list for some time. Bottarini, a seven year veteran of the US Army flew 43 combat missions in a B-17 during the war and is 0-2 with a seven saves and a 1.35 ERA in just 17 appearances with Atlanta this season. Opponents are hitting just .176 off him (0 doubles 0 triples 1 homerun)
In 1950 Atlanta used the right hander as a starting pitcher giving him 18 starts in which he went 5-5 with a 3.64 ERA. He had one complete game and pitched 116.1 innings that season.
Colorado indicated that they plan on using Bottarini solely out of the bullpen ahead of Wagner and Holbert in an effort to make it a six inning game.
Bottarini strengthens an already sturdy pen that has Lance Holbert 25 for 25 in save opportunities, Jesus Wagner 5-2 with a 1.31 ERA, Bill Campbell, 0-0 2.53, and Horacio Escobar, a former starters with 40 strikeouts in 48.1 innings pitched this season.
