It has been fun

April 20, 2017 at 07:03PM View BBCode

Sadly, the time has come for me to make my exit from the Ty Cobb League after more than 30 seasons.

With a disabled wife and three kids to put through college, I no longer have the funds or time to dedicate to this great game of ours.

It has been great, competing with all of you and I was fortunate to make it to the World Series twice and win it once for my hometown. Hopefully, I can come back at some point in the future.

Best wishes to all of you. Thanks for a great time.

Regards,
Barry

Much respect to a man who obviously has a lot on his plate. Family always comes first and this silly game we all love will still be here if/when you are able to return. Good luck in all you do and prayers to you and your family. :)

Thanks Lawman. My eldest graduates in 11 months. Maybe then.

My prayers are with you and yours too.

I just joined the league so I don't know you well but I am disabled myself from neck spinal issues and single so I understand. and I know you are making the right move. This is just a game! Your wife and kids come first and you recognize that. Good for you in making the right call. I am also a strong believer in Jesus and a child of God. So I have prayed for you even though I don't know you and you don't know me. Doesn't matter. God knows you and me and knows your heart. So pray yourself and try to get all the believers you know- both family and others to do so also. We will never know until we are in heaven whose prayer was effective or it could be a combination of prayers. I'm hoping you know a Pastor or strong believer to pray in person for you and your family. God Bless!!

"The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective". James 5:16 NIV

Thanks, Kurgan, the pleasure was mine too.

Coffeeman1, this is a great group of guys, they trade fair and congratulate often.

Thank you for your prayers, they are always welcome.I too will pray for you and hope to see you guys in the near future.

I'm still here until the end of the season, so here's hoping for a 20 game win streak.

You will be missed sir. My oldest son finishes High school in 6 weeks and joins the Air Force directly after. Family will always come first.

Thank your son for his service on my behalf, please, Meinrad.

My Dad was a paratrooper in World War II, my brother was a Marine for 30 years and I have no doubt your son will make us all proud.

Also, thank you for the kind words.

Good luck to you and yours, Barry. I hope everything works out for you. Unfortunately, there do come times when we must put away our toys for higher priorities.

It happens, Deep Threat. The good news is, they're worth it.
