I think the player position rules need a little refinement. On one of my teams I was fortunate enough to have 2 good catchers, one 5 years older than the other, both good hitters. The older catcher has had a long career, blocking the younger one from taking over the position, so to get him into the lineup I started playing him at 3rd against RHP. He's now an A+ there, has been for five seasons. However, he's also been the starting catcher against LHP at the same time, and over that same period has caught 45, 33, 20, 31, and 49 games, and yet his skill level has deteriorated from A+ (100%) to B (67.7%). It doesn't seem realistic to me that a guy playing a position in which he is starting in up to a third of his games would be losing his skill level much at all, and definitely not at that rate.

I agree completely. you'd also better get him playing C against rhp soon, or he's going to not be able to catch at all shortly.

Just caught this thread, and it's so true. I have a veteran catcher that also played RF for another team. After catching 100+ games for me several seasons in a row, he played the OF in an injury situation for ONE game, and lost catching skills. ONE game!Pages: 1
