Starting to loose interest

Games like today are laughable.
The whole game was a defensive slug fest of field goals until the last 17 secs.

00:17. 9 6 BUF --- LV 30
Las Vegas lines up for the kickoff.
Eddie Titchenal kicks off for the COIN.
Kick hang time: 3.83 seconds.
The ball is caught in the end zone by Jondarius Holmes.
Holmes breaks a tackle at the BUF 27.
Jondarius Holmes returns the kick to the LV 43.
00:06. 9 6 BUF 1/10 LV 43
1st and 10 for the Bisons, they huddle and line up in a Shotgun; the COIN line up in a 4-2-5 Nickel.
Ed Times takes the snap and drops back into the pocket.
Times passes to Russ Nomellini at the LV 25.
The ball is caught at the LV 25 by Russ Nomellini.
Nomellini breaks a tackle by Bob McCrumbly.
Pass by Ed Times is completed to Russ Nomellini for a 43 yard gain.
Touchdown for the Buffalo Bisons!
Aaron Barber prepares to kick the extra point for Buffalo, Jim Turner holding.
Turner's hold is good.
Extra point kick by Aaron Barber is good.

I've lost interest. Had for a while now. We need an update, need tackle stats, more plays and formations.

JTFL owners are not very active in threads, this includes myself, but there is nothing drawing us in, raising are excitement, wanting more, can't wait to see the next quarter or read the new thread. The league and the sim dynasty itself is just blah, plain, outdated, old.

We need every possible formation, more plays, tackle stats to lift spirits and excitement.

Who agree's or disagrees? Would like to see every one weigh in.

I get supremely frustrated with the "luck" of the dice. Most of that is whatever is wrong with me in this world--definitely no tiger blood in my veins.

Mostly I get sick and tired of the same owners winning season after season. Same three or four owners, over and over and over. I don't know if Tackle stats help the non-winning owners very much.

One thing I've noticed, which is related to the "luck" issue, is how AFE determines Holds and Turnovers by field position, than in any real sense of calculating Chance vs Execution. I think the system is slanted toward Chance, but the Turnover aspect is hardwired without paying much attention to the situation. The randomness of a Long Pass is as negative as for a Short Pass--no matter how much Execution is involved, the randomness causes too many Incompletions in "big" spots. Turnovers are expected; the random chance percentages don't seem to apply unless your team is loaded with A -rated players. Then suddenly there is the possibility of "Forced" Turnovers when your team actually needs them, or a TD pass (not a Screen) that is successful vs the Blitz. Which is something that NEVER happens for my teams because, well, the talent isn't there.

However if talent was the decider for success, as is the case almost 100% of the time, the real-world Patriots would never have won a Super Bowl. Cheating aside, of course.

You should keep in mind that Buffalo has an uncanny ability to get plays like that. Not sure why or how, and not in that situation exactly. Maybe Buffalo just goes downfield in certain situations more than most (gambling.)

This game has the potential to be great if it was worked on and improved. As is it's to predictable. Tackling stats and more formations would help.

I must be a genius. LOL I honestly have no idea why I succeed or fail in this game. In baseball I do. Also there isn't enough scoring and no defensive stats comparable to offensive stats.

I agree the game can use some new items. Some more plays, some more stats and I would like to have a practice squad of 2 or 3 players, something like there is in the baseball game (would make the lower draft rounds interesting).

I disagree with that it is mainly luck. If it all were a roll of the dice, the usual teams would not end top as is mentioned. It is about building a strong roster and fit it with the right tactics....or the other way around...that also works. (BB of the Patriots is a great example of the latter)

I (Norfolk) had not had a higher pick in the draft as 18 for the last 15 seasons....that is more as the avarage years a player is on your squad. So teams with a lot of success have a disadvantage in the draft and waivers......blaming them that they keep having success is therefore strange. (everybody can have success in this game)

I also see these posts about silly/strange plays...usually when the are not in favour......believe me...we ALL have these plays....sometimes they are in your favour and somtimes not. Int's , fumbles and stupid penalties at inconvenient times also annoy me at times and probably all other owners in this game.

But once again.......it would be nice to have some additions to the game again....let's hope that the last small changes are just a small example of what is to come.

Stupid Fuking losses like today is why I want to leave this G damn game.

There is no fuking way up 21 with the ball to start the 4th quarter would my team ever loose.

BUT the fuking sim starts the qtr off by giving it to my FB and of the course the ashole fumbles. Then over the next 10 minutes of game time I lose 2 of my best players to injury and get a number of penalties and 1 fuking first down in 3 possessions with the best G damn offense in the entire league.

No wonder we keep losing owners left and right!

I completely changed my plan in the 4th to counter everything that didn't work.

I would be pissed to. But it happens even in the NFL.

Plus I would say between myself and Norfolk we are tied for the best D.
So no surprise to me I shut your offense down in the 4th. Been holding several team's to very few yards all season.

Watching the ending of the Super Bowl this year, I remember thinking to myself "If that happened in one of my sim games I'd be facing angry owners about how unrealistic the sim is".

I'm getting simultaneous complaints here that the sim is too random and that the same teams always win. Both of these can't be true. If the sim was completely random and teams and strategies made no difference then wins would be evenly distributed.

We definitely need more of everything in the football sim. It's still young, and unfortunately as many of you know I've been fighting a heart condition for the last year which makes it difficult to pull the long days coding that I am used to.

The last work I was doing on the interior of the engine, I built in hooks for more defensive formations. That is where the next major change will be. After that, things get tricky because they start requiring deeper overhauls.

I'd love to say I'm a perfect programmer, but with the football core I coded myself into a corner. Without getting too technical about it, the main core simply consumes too much memory and resources, so for everything new I put in I need to optimize something else out to compensate. And I've squeezed that lemon about as hard as I can, so I need to redesign things to work better. And I will, I'm not trying to offer excuses for the game. I am pretty proud of the simulation, but I understand that games need to evolve to maintain interest. I guess the point of this post is to note that the next improvements you see are going to come on the defensive side of the ball first.

I agree we need more defensive and offensive plays and i posted that when i first started here in the football league i have played baseball since it came out, I even got a simD shirt which i need another this one is worn out chris. As posted above I had same thing happen man norfolk last year did to me i have it happen alot i get fustrated as you do with stuff. My quaterback should be one of the top in the league as far as int to TD and he not he tosses more int with a A+A+ then i would expect to ever happen even vs great defenses my D is just as good as the top 5 are and i dont get the int that happen to me and my QB is better then ones that dont throw many. I Guessing the only thing different is my exe. and thats not bad it not great either. I am now just going to force him to pass hoping maybe his age he wont toss as many and his agr goes down. I am not sure if my receivers just not as good as i think and it cause me headaches tring to fix poor ole kirk or what is wrong. My def just started doing decent but there not consistent again not sure how much role exe plays into this. My point here is bad days in real life make it seem worse. Swearing is not going to solve the problem. Chris is a standup guy he listens and he doing his best to get things where we think they should be. I may or may not renew but that because money is super tight here everything falling apart in real life for me but i not going to shoot Chris and Tyson down because it not perfect yet and my life is going like crap. Best of luck to everyone in Life if you stay or leave sim and god bless. Showtime

Certainly your health is more important then the game Chris but It was nice to at least get a response from Administration.

I know i really shouldn't complain, this game has been pretty good to me. Was just hard to swallow loosing a game after taking the lead with just 17 seconds left. Guess it is just frustrating to see the game stagnant instead of growing and improving.

When you see late-quarter breakdowns, the first thing to suspect is fatigue. We used to see a lot of this when people were using overly-aggressive fatigue settings because the old fatigue model pretty much required them, but those haven't been necessary for a while. Still, if it feels like it happens often to you, your substitution settings are the first place to look.

The rule of thumb is the better your second string is, the more aggressive your sub settings can be.
