I know that playing a player out of position affects their range & arm ratings in games, resulting in reduced performance. But does it also affect their ability to convert on major league ICs in the off-season?February 08, 2017 at 09:24PM View BBCode
I don't think so. Nothing in the game guide says that it does and looking at some of the guys I've converted backs that up. I had a young player convert to catcher and it took an extra 2 full seasons to get there fully. His conversion rate looks normal to me.February 08, 2017 at 10:05PM View BBCode
If players play out of position, it is a 10% penalty on earning ICs, not converting them:February 09, 2017 at 12:12AM View BBCode
Thanks Beanballs, super helpful. A 10% drop off is fairly significant - I see that the catcher prospect you posted, TheBigKahuna, lost about 14 ICs over those 2 seasons he was still converting. I'm considering a C conversion for this guy (http://simdynasty.com/player.jsp?player=nobody&mode=stats&id=12335734) and was considering moving him up now since he's OS23 and I need the space in my minors, but that will probably be a good 3 seasons of reduced opportunities.February 09, 2017 at 12:50AM View BBCode
I was overloaded with OFs and moved this guy to 2B and he had 68 IC for the season, equal to his highest minor league total. Now he is A+ at 2B so I assume there will be no penalty now. http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=12296248&statsorimps=impsFebruary 09, 2017 at 03:58AM View BBCode
He was moving from CF to 2b, which only takes a couple of months of playing time to convert, so that's a bit different scenario than to catcher, which takes several years. 68 ICs is nice though - there wouldn't be a penalty if he's A+ there now.February 12, 2017 at 01:25PM View BBCode
I have seen a player have a lower batting success during a conversion as well.February 12, 2017 at 07:32PM View BBCode
there is no connection between position changes and offensive performance.Pages: 1
