Dynasty Bot and the American League

January 22, 2017 at 07:04PM View BBCode

Three of the eight teams in the American League are now run by the Dynasty Bot. In terms of my team's performance I shouldn't complain because those teams tend to be terrible. But the fact that those teams have absolutely no direction really affects my enjoyment of Sim Dynasty. I notice a lot of leagues seem to be looking for owners. Perhaps the number of leagues should be dramatically reduced?

I agree with the enjoyment factor. It's not as fun when you can't trade with some teams.

Could always change this league to private.

What would turning the league to private involve? I've only played the standard 3 games a day version of SimDynasty. I'm aware of private leagues but never thought to investigate.

A few players are interested in moving to a private league set-up, hopefully eliminating the Dynasty Bots. Other players that are not in this league have expressed interest as well and would take the Bot teams or the teams of anyone who is not interested in moving private.

This is the start of the process. If we get a large majority of the owners interested in moving to a Private league, we can start discussing the type of league rules we would want to implement. Including,
1) Variable Development System -
2) Minor League System -
3) Injury System -
4) Win Pct Modifier -
5) Mentoring Systems -
6) Retirement System -
7) Draft Lottery -
8) Amount of off-season days -

and any other ideas that anyone is interested in discussing.

Similar cost structure.
Still 3 games per day if wanted.

Looks good to me. I'd certainly be happy to work on the details as long as someone else is the first commissioner. I would prefer to keep it at 3 games a day.

If you want to put it to a vote, I will organize with admin to get it going.
If enough owners are in, we can start voting on the specifics.

I'm up for a private league,3 gpd is fine with me - would also do 6

My preference would be for a System 3 Minors/Winning Pct Mod/Lottery Draft league but I'm willing to be flexible

I would have to do some research to understand the details of what "the crusher" is talking about but I would be happy to put the issue to a vote and, based upon what has happened to our league, I strongly support going private. I like 3 games a day. Otherwise I should spend most of my life playing with my roster.

Not really crushing it much here of late - might have to go by jrthemediocre for a few seasons while the arms develop...

Most of the things bradyo and I are referencing are covered in the game guide:
http://rules.simdynasty.com/index.php/Sim_Dynasty_Game_Guide

System 3 minors is known as max development, there are no CPs. A full 15-player minor league team should receive 65 Improvement Chances per player every season. It eliminates the need to trade CPs and undergo lengthy rebuilds because more players can be fully developed at a time. Makes those 2nd/3rd/4th round picks much more valuable too.

The Winning Pct Modifier ties your Winning Percentage into the calculation for converting Major League ICs - more wins means more improvements for younger players, less wins hurts your big league development. This one incentivizes the middle of the pack teams to push a little bit harder to win games.

A Lottery Draft puts the draft order to a drawing, the team with the worst record has the best chance at getting, but isn't guaranteed the #1 pick and etc down the line. This with the winning pct modifier and max dev make it less necessary and less desirable for teams to "tank," accumulate a few high draft picks in a row, and build a strong team from the spoils of losing - See: NY Hoodrats c. 2000-2003 for reference.

In summary: If we do decide to go private, I would enjoy a league with some anti-tanking measures in place

(Variable Development is also interesting to me but I'm much more hesitant to push for that)

thanks for the explanation--I'm in. I especially agree with you on reducing the number of teams making every effort to lose. I've done it in the past. A bad season is over in two months so its a lot easier to take.

I am in.....but the I don't like the win% only because it is hard to rebuild if the best teams get the most improvement chances..it makes it harder to improve if your team is mediocre....I am also anti tanking... and I am for system 3

Having so many leagues switch from dynasty to private is taking a toll on me financially. It isn't a large cost change, but when you multiply it by several leagues, it adds up. I won't stay long in the league if it switches.

I have taken over the Washington franchise so there is one less Bot now.

Welcome Lawman! Your not a police officer are you? If you are, you might want to keep an eye Philly's 3 best hitters...they are into some gang related activity (a la Aaron Hernandez).
