TEXAS TORONTO BOTH LOSE OAKALND WINS AT HOME LEAD BY TWO

Mike Guante continues to slump but Joel Gray, Jack Russell and Don Dingman are not and Oakland continues to get good overall pitching winning three of four since going 5-4 on their nine-game toad swing through three cities.
Gray went 6.2 innings for the win Marsh LaRocca1.1innings 3 hits allowed and Ellis Hamilton1 inning 2 strike outs finished.
Oakland scored four runs in the early going.
One run in the second on a single by Joe Lahti and three in the third when Danny Durazzo reached on an error that allowed Gray to score. Jack Johnson picked up a single, and Lahti's triple got two runs in to make it 4-0.
In the 5th Gorman walked, and Durazzo single. Johnson singled in one run. Starter Duane Bass departed with one out and Dick St. Claire replaced him. Catcher Dave McLeland hit a three run home run off St. Claire to make it 9-0.
Boston had a five run seventh to close to within 9-5.
Clint Warhop had an RBI single and Jim Dickson and Turner Turner hit two run home runs.
Marshall Larocca and Ellis Hamilton allowed Boston no more runs and Oakland claimed a 9-5 win that moved them up to a two game lead in the league as both Toronto and Texas lost.
