Pounding is what Texas did to Baltimore. In game one they pounded 11-2. In the second game Baltimore came back to win 10-9 in a slug fest. Texas ran the score up again winning 11-3 in the high scoring series.

Nolan Ryan got the benefit of 15 hits and 11 runs and the bullpen pitch the last three innings allowing Texas to coast to the win.

Toronto shut out Detroit 7-0 in another lop sided game

Tampa Bay took it to Boston dulling the Battle Axes 6-1.

Oakland continues to show flashes of being a very competitive club. Ed Dopson (3-1) has found his niche in the Oakland rotation and went nine innings for a 9-2 win.

Dopson said, "There is a different way to pitch a game where you get a lot of runs. You can relax but you must compete like it is a 2-1 or such game. This game was special for me, aside from the walks this may have been my best major league start overall."

Oakland bats backed him with 9 runs on 11 hits off five different Cleveland pitchers. The Cleveland bullpen is talented and competitive. Oakland just caught them during a perid they had been used a lot and took advantage of that.

Oakland's manager Duke Williams confirmed that "taking control early was the key to that game."

In the top of the first Oakland took a 1-0 lead when Walter Thomas hit a solo home run, his fourth of the season.

Thomas had three hits and three runs batted in in this game. he raided his batting average to .317 with four home runs and 14 runs batted in.

Four more runs in the seciond put the A's completely in charge.

Danny Durazzo walked. one out later Durazzo initiated the Oakland running game that was alive and well in this game stealing his 5th base of the season. Jack "Champ" Johnson drove him in with a single.

Johnson followed suit and stole Oakland second base in the inning. Dave McLealand then singled him in.

McLeland proved that both Oakland catchers can steal bases by nabbing his first of the season. Taffy Andrews already has four this season.

The pitcher Dopson struck out as McLeland was sliding into second. Jason Gorman drove in the run with a double to left field.

Joe Semproch made his second appearance in the series. Niether went well and to add insult to injury, Semproch was injured, leaving with a stiff elbow and placed on the 15 day disabled list.

Walter Thomas who hit a home run in his first at bat walloped a triple in his second driving in Gorman.

Law Chamberlain hit a two-run homer his fourth in the 7th inning.

Barney Howe ruined Dopson's shutout bid with a two run homerun in the 9th.
