Fantasy MVPSs 1987

September 21, 2015 at 04:39PM View BBCode

Well, with Stu taking a leave of absence to focus on school work and tests, I will try and keep up with the fantasy MVPs in his absence.

Pts are as follows for each area of statistical measurement in determining MVP's -

Defense - (2) pts per sack / (.5) pts per break up / (2.5) pts per INT / (2.5) pts per Forced Fumble / (6) pts per TD

Receiving - (1) per 25 yds receiving / (6) per td / (1) per 10 yac / (.15) per 1st down / (-2.5) per drop

Rushing - (1) per 10 rush yards / (6) per td / (-1) per fumble / (-2) per fumble lost / (.5) per 1st down / (-1) per stuff

Passing - (1) per 25 yards pass / (-1) per sack / (-2) per interception / (4) per td pass / (.25) per first down pass

To start things off we will hit the honorable mentions, the players at each position that didn't quite make it into the top three for each category.

On defense we have Sean Bailey DE from Rochester with 40.00 pts. Wreaking havoc on QB's all season he wracked up 15 sacks and 4 forced fumbles this season.

For Receiving we have Lewis Zimmerman from St Louis, proving to be a consistently reliable target for his QB, Lewis had 1260 yards and 11 TD's this season.

For Rushing we have Singor Galvin from New Orleans carrying the ball 354 times this season (WOW) he wracked up 1665 yards and 6 TD's.

for Passing we have Michael Gray from Las Vegas with 3937 Yards, 23 TD's and a 71.8 QBR on the season.

On to the top 3 at each position.

Starting with defense -

Number 3
42.00 pts - George Malone CB from Pittsburgh! George had a great year with 10 INT's, I will say that again 10 INT's returning 2 of them for TD's!!! QB's always wanted to test their skill by throwing his way and he usually made them pay.

Number 2
45.00 pts - John Barni DT from Virginia! John was a man among boys off the defensive line, chasing QB's all season for 15 sacks and knocking the ball loose 6 times when hitting RB's in the backfield.

Defensive MVP..........
46.00 pts - Devon Taylor DE St. Louis!!! With 18 sacks and 4 forced fumbles, Devon made getting to the QB a tradition every week, and set the standard for DE's in upcoming seasons.

On to Receiving MVP's

Number 3
172.80 pts - Mike Hendren from Miami! Mike was one of the favorite targets for his QB this season, compiling 1260 yards and 11 TD's.

Number 2
175.36 pts - Terry Pitts from Miami! (are we seeing a trend in this one yet?) The best WR in the league this season, Terry had 1439 yards, 738 of them after the catch!. With 6 TD's he didn't impress there but his 1 drop on 147 targets sets the bar high.

Receiving MVP is...........
237.47 pts - Willie Green TE from Rochester!!!! It's not every day that you see a TE out do every receiver in the league but Willie has done just that, with 1653 yards receiving, 902 after the catch, Willie was the epitome of a pass catcher this season. Can he propel them through the playoffs with his amazing skills?....

And on to the Rushing leaders!

Number 3
225.60 pts - Reilly Johnson from Dallas! 1801 yards on 341 carries Reilly was a threat to take the ball the distance on every play. His downside, fumbles... 10 of them this season, losing 6 ouch.

Number 2
230.90 pts - Arland Howell from Orlando! with 1404 yards this season he was a strong presence in the backfield for his squad, fumbling only 5 times and losing only 1 of them, his hands are as reliable as his legs.

Rushing MVP is..........
233.20 pts - Duke Weathers from Edmonton!!! 307 carries. 1392 yards 14 TD's Duke was the strength and center of Edmonton's offence this season. Losing 5 of his 8 fumbles this season, he needs some hands work but will be one of the best for years to come.

And finally, down to the passing leaders of the league.

Number 3
230.25 pts - Doug Peters from Orlando! Doug threw for 3550 yards this season, completing only 57.6% of his pass attempts. The key to his success this year was not forcing his throws, having a 22:7 TD:INT ratio, one of the best in the league ending the season with a QBR of 88.5.

Number 2

235.05 pts - Damon Shaw of San Jose! Damon completed a mediocre 55.7% of his passes for 3695 yards, throwing 24 INT's on his way to a 31 TD season. Ending with a QBR of 76.3 he makes the list as the runner up.

And the Passing fantasy MVP is..........

398.59 pts - Clarence Porter of Miami!!! Stu is hating how the trade a season ago is working out right now, ever since the trip to Miami Clarence has been the best QB in the league. (probably doesn't hurt that two of his receivers broke the top three in fantasy points as well). Completing an impressive 68.9% of his tosses for 4846 yards Clarence was the king of taking care of the football on his way to 45 TD's and 8 INT's. He ended the season with a QBR of 106.4!
