Tiebreaker/Player rest

August 12, 2015 at 12:41AM View BBCode

Heading into a tiebreaker game. Last scheduled game was played on October 1st with the tiebreaker to be played on October 3rd. League date currently displayed as October 3rd on the league's home page, but my players' energy lines vary from red to green (i.e., it does not appear that they received the benefit of resting on October 2nd).

Will the rest period kick in before the game is played? This is problematic because my catcher and clean-up hitter is currently showing red energy. If I have to play my backup, I do not want said backup hitting 4th.

Off days aren't a factor for position players:

I'm guessing they'll need to rest because its technically game 163 of the regular season rather than being the start of the playoffs. But thinking of it that way I'm curious if this guy has missed any other games this season due to either injury or just being on the bench, since 163 is a prime number so shouldn't just be that he sits every x number of games (discounting the possibility of sitting every 163, since I'm pretty sure catchers can't play that much).

You can control where you bench players hit by using the advanced manager prefs. Use the option to "bat subs at the end of the lineup" instead of "bat subs in the location vacated by the starter in the batting order." Good luck to you!

My catcher has an A+ health rating. Probably rested once every 10-12 games. For whatever reason, his health rating stayed "two-bar yellow" two games in a row at the end of the season. I didn't have the luxury to rest him because I had to win both of the last two games to force the playoff.

Bummer that I have play the tiebreaker without him as he would never sit in real life given the magnitude of the game and the fact the previous day was an off-day.

If you play a tie-breaker your players get no rest. It is a broken system and admin has acknowledged it, but has done nothing about it.

In the real world you might rest a player every X number of games, but he darn well would start a tie breaker and game 1 of the playoffs. But in the sim your players may be forced to rest one of those games.
