How to handle relief pitchers

July 23, 2015 at 04:24PM View BBCode

My closer was the 1st reliever drafted in our trial league, has an "A" rating, with "A+" control. His last three stat lines:

1.0 IP/1 H/1 R/1 ER/2 BB/1 K -- gave up 3 R in the 9th (BS)

2.0 IP/2 H/3 R/0 ER/2 BB/ 0 K -- gave up 3 R in the 9th (BS)

0.2 IP/3 H/3 R/3 ER/1 BB/ 0 K -- gave up 3 R in the 9th (BS)

Does it help if I pull him from the closer role or just power through his slump?

Roles don't matter, only ratings matter. Over the course of the season there is no difference between having these three outings happen one after another and having them scattered throughout. You should take no more mind of this than if you had a starter go 3.2 IP with 4 ER in one start.

do keep an eye on his END. the low endurance guys get tired faster, so they don't do as well going back to back to back days.

Set your preferences for a higher energy level so the codebit will be more rested when coming into a game. Won't get to use it as often (a few fewer ICs), but results should be better.

Maybe.

if anybody will take it, trade it for a really good hitter.

(the best hitter in the league. you might even find the owner of the best hitter in the league dumb enough to give you something else along with it. good luck.)

Also yank your relievers quickly when they are tired.
