Post your merger questions here

July 20, 2015 at 05:07PM View BBCode

We all have a bunch of procedural questions for admin, I'll bet. If you all will post them here, I'll try to pull them all together into one message for admin, rather than peppering him with 20 or so separate messages.

So far, here's what I have:
- How do we vote on any rule differences?
- How will the term fees that we've already paid be converted into subscriptions? How many seasons will we have at the start?
- How will old DJL records be maintained for accessibility?

Feel free to add.

Team/city status

July 20, 2015 at 05:18PM View BBCode

Did a quick look at the cities in the two leagues, as it stands right now.

In the AL:
12 paid: Baltimore, Boston, Detroit, KC, Oakland, Seattle, and Texas from the DJL, Detroit, Minnesota , New York, Oakland, and Washtington from the WWL.

Conflicts in Detroit and Oakland: Hera of WWL says he'll move his Detroit; MortonsFork of DJL volunteered (in U2U to me) to move his Oakland.
Owner Fredbirds is in the AL of both leagues, says he'll give up Seattle and keep Minnesota

In the NL:
11 paid: Arizona, Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh, and St. Louis from the DJL, Colorado, New York, Miami, and San Diego, from the WWL.
2 renewing: Brooklyn, San Francisco from the WWL.

So, 11 in the AL and 13 in the NL as of 6-23-15

How will we decide divisions/league structure?

Will the AL and NL teams stay in their leagues, also will DJL'ers and WWL'ers compete in the divisons together, or will there be a randomness to the mixture?

Also will we have the option to pick new cities? I assume there will be some duplicate cities, how will that be decided (I am guessing the longest tenure will get first choice)?

Will our amateur draft take place first, or will their be a new combined amateur draft?

What about the players on the expansion teams, will there be a dispersal draft, or will those codebits just cease to exist?

Will the league become the Jeter Wood, or should we pick a new name for the league?

This should be a very cool league, I am really looking forward to it and getting going again, thanks Dabigtrain for all your efforts!!!

Don't think it affects me personally but what about traded draft picks, especially with defunct teams?

Hey guys, I'm the commish in the WWL. We are excited to make a new league. I have been on SimD for a long time (as has many of our owners), but never in a 24 team league. Let's make that happen!

As for our renewal status, here's where we stand right now:
In the AL we have Detroit, New York, Oakland, Minnesota and Washington. We have 5 confirmed in the AL.
In the NL we have New York, San Diego, San Francisco, Miami, and Brooklyn who are joining for sure. We have 5 confirmed in the NL.
Colorado is still to be confirmed. I hope to hear from them soon.

I am keeping the Minnesota team from the WWL, and letting the Seattle team from the DJL dissolve, if you look at the age of the rosters you will understand why.

The other 24 combined team I play in they kept the divisions as best they could with the leagues staying in the same divisions, thus the DJL AL teams would be the West and the WWL AL teams would be in the East, any conflicts I think they asked for volunteers to move.

Looking forward to it. I have to admit , when we first started talking merger , I was one of the biggest naysayers as I have played 24 team format and was not a fan. BUT.... Having been in WWL since the beginning(30th season) with a lot of the same owners AND seeing a lot of familiar names in the DJL , I am no longer a skeptic. I've been in Sim for 325 seasons and have played against over half of the DJL owners at one time or another , so let's rumble once again! btw , I have been in Oakland for all 30 seasons and would hope to stay there as it's brought me good fortune , but will defer if the DJL owner has been there longer. Let's get everybody signed up and paid for so this off season is a short one. Steve

Just renewed the Washington team from the WWL. Traveling this week with limited connectivity but am open to any arrangements that make this work.

My mistake, I saw "San Diego" and throught "St. Louis." Our San Diego team is leaving, so no conflict there. I edited the original post to reflect that.

Welcome to all; glad to see we'll be moving forward, finally!

Lets get this done, my young team is having a hard time keeping its arse out of trouble with all this free time. There's only so many "team building" bowling events we can hold to keep them distracted lol

I have the Detroit team in WWL. I am fine with giving up the City name for another. Looking forward to the merger.

Miami has just confirmed to me that he is in. I edited my post above to reflect. So it looks like we are up to 9 from the WWL

Yes - if Colorado confirms, we'll have 11 in the AL and 13 in the NL.

Owners in the two conflict cities (Detroit and Oakland) have volunteered to move.

We'll need one volunteer to move from NL to AL.

I would say it is great to see this coming together, and it is also great to hear from my former WWL'ers, I know you guys are a tough and competitive bunch, I look forward to competing again against you guys.

This new league will be a unique one that will combine and honor the storied histories of both the DJL and WWL, there will be more playoff teams, more trading partners, more teams to play, this is a win-win for all.

Thanks again for both of the commish'es work on the logistics, hopefully Chris/Tyson can get this done in the next few days and our Long Cold Winter will finally be over!!!

I have a question on this. as we cut down to a 24 team league, will the players on teams that will be dissolving enter the waiver list of players and thus be eligible to be picked up via waivers?

Hey, I'll move from the NL to the AL.

And I propose the league be named the Wilbur Jeter, that way it keeps the uniqueness of each leagues names. The other combinations sound a bit odd to me...

The way it worked in the other combined league that I am in, the players on the dissolved team cease to exist.

I did a little digging, looking at the Keller Stargell League (dynasty league) that recently merged, it looks like we would run our normal amateur drafts in each league, pause, then merge:

A guess on my part, I am hoping Chris or Tyson give us an update soon...
