Better off having lesser vLHP stats?

This is something I've been wondering about for a while...

Frank Riddle is one of the top players in our upcoming draft (of which I have a top-4 pick, and he is one of the players I'm considering). I have seen owners "rip" other owners' picks of players like these, where at face value, the player looks like he'll develop into a stud, but the vLHP skills are already two grades higher than the vRHP skills. Does this put a cap on what he'll do as far as how he develops vRHP? As a secondary question, all other skills/age being equal, would a player who was, say, C+/C vLHP actually be a better investment?

Hitting vs. RHP develops independently from hitting vs. LHP.

Riddle is a great prospect and projects out to something like this:
A+/A- vs. RHP
A+/A vs LHP
A speed
A+ range/B- arm

Both contact skills as well as range will max out.

I agree with Willy and would draft Riddle without hesitation.

I usually like my players to have better skills vs RHP as I thought that it would drag down the other improvements. So, only the thing that affects bundled skills like CR and PR are those skills? There is nothing built in about overall rating that affects improvements?

overall rating only applies within the individual bundles, so a hitter with a high bundle in vRHP will not improve as well in CVR/PVR but that bundle's rating does not affect the other three areas of offensive improvement, vLHP, defense (arm/range) and speed .

The overall rating of a player has no effect on improvement. The skill level of each bundle affects the conversion %.

I love having owners who pass up a guy like this in my league, let's me draft them later in the draft.

He's going to be a perennial MVP candidate, and likely a Gold glove at CF or 1B

This is basically the point that my question was getting to...I wasn't aware that the bundle affects only that skill...that each other skill is treated separately as far as improves go.

I did get Riddle at #2. Hoping he's a big part of my team coming out of rebuild. Thanks for the help all!

I think you are committing development abuse with Riddle. Giving him 4 cp's is close to a crime when you could easily give him (AND your pitchers) 5. Maler does not deserve the cp's, if you want to continue developing a guy like that put him in the majors and play him. But at 22 is doesn't deserve the cp's in the minors unless you have junk otherwise.

And you have room to play Maler in the majors if you want. Nelson can sit, he isn't quite going to get there, will develop little more at his age, and unless he gets a good leadership score I would try to trade him.

I would look to trade Pisoni, this is the kind of guy I don't want on my team in a rebuilding situation. Because of his D leadership he will never be a good mentor so I don't want him around. He is good enough to trade for some real value, and by the time your team is getting to be good he will be in decline.

You could also put Maler as 1st backup at all positions, but your team health is too good for this to work well. First backup works very well when team health is low (love my low health guys), but not nearly as well with good team health.

But the bottom line for me is never short the stars cp's while giving cp's to guys that are not going to be stars, particularly when they are over OS20. If I wan't to develop the weak to average 21+ guy it will happen in the majors unless no one else needs the cp's. But Riddle and your pitchers do.
