How is everyone feeling about the league? POLL

June 30, 2015 at 03:58PM View BBCode

Hey guys,

Just checking in here on how we are doing as a league. I know that we recently had to put 3 teams up for replacement status, and we have already replaced one team.
However, I just want to make sure we are still all rockin this league. I have had an inquiry from the commish of another league (3 games per day, subscription like us) about possibly merging leagues. He has seen some of his teams get abandoned as well.
I am putting up this poll to see how we feel about the possibility of merging leagues IF we needed to.
Don't worry, I am not getting us into anything. I just want to gauge our level of interest.
Please take a moment to vote.

Thanks,
Jason

I like the league how it is, but if we have to merge, I have no objection. A couple of questions on a merge however, will our league rules change, I like how are league is set up and the minor league system, plus the variable development.

the other question is, with more teams, if owners drop out, will it be conceivably harder to replace owners?

I too will not be renewing for another term. I was going to drop out last term but was convinced to stay. I'm glad I did but now I just don't have the time I once had. This has been a great league over the years thanks to all the great owners. Good luck in the future and I will continue to see some of you over in the MML.

I have enjoyed the league and it's setup. I will be stayingm. I have no objections with merging as long as the rules ae we the same.

Like Conan, I'm leaving so I won't vote ... but the merger would not make me stay. The novelty of 24-team leagues has worn off, I think (if that's the kind of merger you're talking about).

I have found the level of play here to be challenging and it is certainly more difficult than a Dynasty League, but I have been disappointed with the level of chatter and sense of community on the forum boards, and often it kind of feels like the league is an after-thought for many. My theory is that with so many of us formerly in Minnie Minoso together, that must be why. But perhaps that is just the way *I* feel about it. I'm sure if it was one of just two or three leagues I was in, or the only league, I would feel differently.

But I do know most of you and sincerely wish you all the best, whatever you decide, and I certainly look forward to continuing our competition in other arenas.

The way it would work under a merger is this:

The other league is almost exactly like ours, so we could basically run the same way. The only difference would be this:

A new league would be created with a year of 1970 and copies of players and teams that are staying in the league would be created in the new league. These are copies, so they won't have any statistics or history involved with them. Any remaining term or subscription credit would be transferred to the new league. Existing subscriptions (if any) would need to be cancelled. A poll would need to be taken on any mismatched rules. Once everyone is settled in, the 1970 season starts.

Guys, I'm not trying to affect our league in any way, but I gotta be honest that we are losing 3 more owners. We filled New York (thanks to mmm6862), but filling 3 spots will be a challenge, and could mean that we wait a while in the offseason.

Honestly, I'm just trying to see creative ways to keep our league running.

Since the other league (Derek Jeter) is losing 3 also, the other commish (who I know from other leagues) and I were just trying to gauge interest to see if we could possibly pull it off.
It is my intent to keep us together in the WWL so that we can keep this league going.
I love this league, but I disagree with you ballmark on the level of chatter on the boards. Since the beginning of May, WWL has had 24 topics started. In the same amount of time, MML has had 4 topics. So I actually think we are more active on this board. Its actually the MML that's starting to feel a bit long in the tooth (in my opinion)
I still think we are a top notch league.

So in other words, let your fellow owners know there are some spots open in this league!

Wow, I did not realize Minnie Minoso had fallen so far into disuse. That makes me sad. And perhaps if I had taken a more active interest in the WWL I would not be feeling this detachment.

So, with both leagues losing 3 owners each, that would be 26 guys left for 24 teams, yes? So you still need a couple to step down?

You know, I am such an ambivalent RichardNoggin at times ... I suppose, Jason, if it gets down to needing just *ONE* more owner to keep this league going or make the merger work --> come talk to me.

As a former WWL'er I have been one from the DJL that has encouraged the potential merge, I am not sure if the math would work, or the ramifications of each leagues histories, but I think both leagues would mesh really well and make a really cool and strong 24 team 3GPD private league.

I have been recruiting hard to fill our slots in the DJL, but right now it is tough sledding, for some reason teams are not selling at all and we have been in hiatus for a few weeks waiting for expansion owners.

As I have done with the DJL, I would encourage the WWL to be open to joining us if it comes to that, and if not, I wish the WWL good luck in recruiting and filling the slots and continuing on as a great and competitve league---John

Thanks for your support Bob, and thanks to the entire league for being so good to be around.

I agree that the MML is not in bad shape. I was just pointing out that lately we've actually been more active in WWL than MML.

I'm in for both leagues. I'd like to see if anyone else here in WWL wants to chime in. I will wait a bit to see if we can fill those teams, and if we are still sitting at 3 open teams on September 1 (league date), then I'm gonna push to see if we can merge. I don't want us sitting around for weeks. I'd prefer it if our season can end here, and then we can have it lined up shortly after the World Series.

I will stay on for another term as long as there is no merger. I understand it gets harder to find good loyal owners and the league has to do what it has to do. I have tried the 24 team format and did not like it. If push comes to shove and this league is left without a choice but to merge , my team can be added to "needs a replacement" list.

I know how you feel and I can see people losing interest in this game after years of playing . I havent yet . But Im kind of like you with the merger , I wont be happy but Ill stick it out . I hope it doesnt come to the point of you leaving Steve .We have been together for 8 real years now . Its been fun though right ?

If we merge with the Derek Jeter league, I am in it as well, defending champion, so I would give up that team getting closer to 24 teams for the merger to occur. 24 leagues that I play in seem to really even up the teams and you can move up and down in the standings a lot quicker. MML is my 2nd oldest team so I won't be giving it up and I enjoy this league.

Guys, the other commish and I have agreed to wait until the end of our season to see how our league's health is going.

If we are still looking for 3 owners at that time, I will ask you guys again about this subject.

Thanks so much for your input
