Lop sided trades
May 24, 2015 at 07:04PM View BBCode
In the Dick Butkus league the New Jersey Generals made 3 lopsided trades just before the trade deadline with Cleveland, Green Bay and Philly and Los ANgeles Knights. They traded of all their GOOD Players for scrub player. NOthing happened to them so my question is is there going to be anything built in to stop this from happening. Or how can we stop it from happening. On the trade page it says this is cheating. If 4 teams get all the good players what chance do the other 12 teams have. Below are the trades I am speaking of and the dates.
10/12/1981
Trade #40028 has been completed between the New Jersey Generals and the Los Angeles Knights. The Los Angeles Knights receive Ray Remsberg (P) from the New Jersey Generals in exchange for Bill Belotti (P).
10/12/1981
Trade #40026 has been completed between the New Jersey Generals and the Los Angeles Knights. The Los Angeles Knights receive Brian Rayburn (K) from the New Jersey Generals in exchange for Roger Greenich (K).

Trade #40029 has been completed between the New Jersey Generals and the Philadelphia Eagles. The Philadelphia Eagles receive Cal Stephens (CB), Registrar Izzadique (WR), Howard Holmes (LB), Dave Foley (T), Bruce Elia (TE), Arnie Jones (LB), Hugh Fantetti (S) from the New Jersey Generals in exchange for Harvey Oelerich (CB), Robert Toscani (LB), Mike Robinson (T), Ron Smith (WR), Maxie Ilowit (QB), Demetrius Woltman (TE), Monk Goodman (LB).

Trade #39996 has been completed between the New Jersey Generals and the Green Bay Acme. The Green Bay Acme receive Don Griffin (T), Oscar Morris (S), Mick McBride (WR), Cyron McRoberts (S), Kirk Richards (G), Art Jeter (DE), Rickey Page (RB), John Walls (G), Shawn Olsen (DT), Shelton Thibodeaux (LB), Jack Robinson (QB), Larry Davis (CB), Tom Skladany (P), John Bryan (K) from the New Jersey Generals in exchange for John Shegog (LB), Scott Gorman (DE), Jim Johnson (S), Bill Smith (T), Mitch Williams (S), Bob Forester (CB), Johnny Daft (WR), Tim Hammond (G), Kirk Potts (G), Ben Kreitling (DT), Erwin Cox (RB), Scott Smith (QB), Ray Remsberg (P), Brian Rayburn (K).

Actual links so people, including admin, have less work to do to look into the situation would be very helpful. That said, I'd say it bears looking into.

Thanks for the input. I would have to give them about 35 players URL it seems it would be easier to look at the trade and they could see all the player ratings. I guess they can get away with it. It is only a game. If they want to cheat to win SO BE IT. I will put it to rest and try to play with the best I can.

We can't look at the trade. That link goes to our own league. We need to have a link to one of the players involved to see anything. Otherwise it's just a bunch of names.

ok, I had some free time so I went in through browse leagues and opened the new jersey roster (http://football.simdynasty.com/roster.jsp?teamid=214240, then followed the player cards.
Trade #40028 has been completed between the New Jersey Generals and the Los Angeles Knights. The Los Angeles Knights receive Ray Remsberg (P) from the New Jersey Generals in exchange for Bill Belotti (P).
10/12/1981
belotti is an A/B+ P with B+ EXE. remsberg is an A/A P with C- EXE. to me this is a toss-up. some guys prefer exe over acc in a P, some the opposite. since this is pretty clearly a trade along those lines, I don't really see the issue.
Trade #40026 has been completed between the New Jersey Generals and the Los Angeles Knights. The Los Angeles Knights receive Brian Rayburn (K) from the New Jersey Generals in exchange for Roger Greenich (K).
10/12/1981
greenich is an A-/B+ K with B EXE. rayburn is an A-/B+ K with A- EXE. I don't see why this is lopsided for NJ. to be honest, i'd rather have rayburn.
the other two I don't have time to go through right now. there's just too many players. maybe if you could let us know which specific players you were most worried about? the two cards I opened from the GB deal were two pretty similar OL guys.

you don't have to link all the cards. just one per trade.

since you;ve gone to all that effort though, i'll see if I can knock off the smaller larger one.
NJ gives up: a decent LB, a decent CB who can't tackle, a decent WR, a dcent LB who would be a really good DE, a good backup OL, a pretty good TE and a decent FS.
NJ gets: an ok CB who's a bit worse than the one they gave up, a bad LB with high EXE, a very good run blocking OL, a meh depth WR who's not as good as the one they gave up, a decent backup QB that they waived for some reason, a pretty good TE who's a bit better than the one they gave up, a meh LB who's not as good as the other one they gave up.
so NJ loses on the exchange of CB, LB, LB, WR. they gain on the exchange of TE, OL. they were probably even on the QB/FS flip but they waived the QB. so all in all I think that NJ lost the deal. I don't think it's super egregious, especially for a single season league where guys sometimes just want to experiment a bit. so i'd have a hard time advocating for overturn without the other deal or some communication showing an pattern of deliberate action.

Take a look at The Butkus League's Message Board and look at a post titled "What A Coincidence!"

Well, since I am part of this "Unfair Lopsided Exchange" I, unlike Brady, am willing to offer any information so one may have a better understanding of what is going on.
What was NOT mentioned however, is that I dropped all the players received by the "Unfair Lopsided Exchange" so other players could pick them up. And strangely, the only one who got the players dropped were the ones complaining about "Unfair Lopsided Exchanges"......but that's a different thread for a different time
