Anderson-Bradley trade

in addition to Mr. Anderson, now known as Wiles Hill, Philadelphia is to receive 10 CPs this season and 5 next in exchange for Mr. Bradley. I'm certainly going to need them.

I'm not sure about this! Maybe I'm missing something but why the CP's? 10 this season plus 5 next?

Also, why are both of you changing the names of the players?

Changing the name of one player to the former name of the player you just traded him for is deceptive. That might not be the reason for making the name change, but it's certainly the effect of it.

I changed "Kaspar Gutman" to "C. B. Challis" because I thought Gutman was kind of stupid and I wasn't impressed with references to old movies. For that reason, I also changed Joe (which should have been Joel) Cairo to Harold Davis. Both Challis and Davis were selected for family connection--mine not theirs. I changed Honest or Dishonest John to "Wiles Hill" because I didn't like the name. Again, the new name has a family connection. I wasn't trying to deceive anybody with my player name changes and apologize if I did. I would have preferred 50 CPs this season and the same next but was too shy to ask. I asked for 10 and 5 because I could use 10 now and thought I probably couldn't get more.

jbk, the problem that I referred to was that Compton traded away Honest/Dishonest John Anderson to your team, and then changed the name of the player he received in turn to Honest John Anderson.

I don't think anyone has any problem with the name changes you made.

As for the CP's, I think you got the better end of the deal by far, but I don't have a problem with one manager getting hosed; I think most of us would like to do that in all the trades we make. Screwing over another player is not a just cause of a trade protest; collusion needs to be involved, or, in some cases, taking advantage of a newbie. So, if someone protested this trade, I would vote against the protest.

No problem at all; I misinterpreted the criticism. I didn't realize he changed the name Bradley, the player I traded to him, to Anderson . . . I guess he likes the name. By the way, does the Snider League have a commissioner?

Uhhh, we have a major problem. Compton traded me 10 CPs this season and 10 for next season. My player, Gabrielson, now only has 3 CPs. Needless to say, I'm not happy. This latest trade is going to need reversed.

I see your problem. I would be willing to settle for 8 this year and 7 next season in an effort to preserve my trade with Montreal. Another alternative might be for him put 10 CPs this season on 3 players--5,3 and 2. I think I prefer the 8/7 split but could be convinced otherwise in the spirit of camaraderie. Because we both lost games when we could have had CPs but didn't there has to be some sort of compensation for us.

There's no way that going less than 5 CPs on each of my 2 players works out fairly for my club unless Compton keeps 5 on each player. If you're willing to go 8 and 7, that's fine, that works out for both of us. Either way, my trade should supercede anything else he's done since those CPs have already been traded to me and they're not his to trade again. If you're adamant that you want your trade to stand, Compton needs to get 5 CPs on both of my players - Gabrielson and Allen - immediately. For every game he leaves his settings as they are, I can't get those IC's back.

I totally agree; I would happy with 5 on Hackett and 3 on Challis this season and I'll worry about next season next season. But we both have lost CPs for several games and there should be some compensation this season, next or both. If he uses 18 CPs this season, 10 for you and 8 for me, he still has 2 one of us could get until the loss is made up. When CPs are traded, why doesn't the game simply transfer the CPs to the team that owns them instead of leaving them with the owner that traded them away?

It's great that jbk and el Tigre are trying to make this work out, but whatever the compromise ends up being, comptonz needs to make it up and more, in my opinion. Dropping for 5 CPs to 3 CPs is definitely detrimental to his prospect. Comptonz absolutely should make that up with additional CP's in a future season, and, personally, I think he should lose a future draft pick for screwing over two league members, regardless of whether it was intentional or not.

I apologize for my last outburst but this thing is getting out of hand and we don't seem to be getting any nearer a resolution. Boston and I have suggested a partial solution but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. If we can't solve such a silly little problem what hope does the world have of ever resolving the Middle East situation?

When you went into your minor league system and took 5 CPs off my player and placed them on Philadelphia's players and changed my player's CPs to 3, you knew you had made a mistake. Correct? If you didn't, you're even more inane than your ridiculous messages would suggest.

What Philly has said is that he would accept 3 CPs on one of his players this season and 2 next. I personally do not think that's fair to his club but at this point he's willing to do that so the trade will stand. My player - Gabrielson - needs to have 5 CPs returned to his settings. That';s not hard to understand. This needs done. I personally feel Philly then needs some sort of restitution for his player only having 3 CPs.

Obviously, this is ridiculous. It's only a game, of course, but fair is fair. Can someone from admin please take an interest in this and make the changes if he won't?

Because CP trades, especially in Dynasty leagues, are still only a semi-official part of the game. They were something owners came up with on their own, and we were convinced to allow them to continue as there is no cash to trade. Subscription leagues have Commishes to enforce rules related to CP trades, so they are more "official" there, but in Dynasty leagues which have no Commishes, CP trades are effectively "buyer beware" and the recourse if one goes bad is to simply not trade with that player anymore. We do have some rules for CP trades in that they must be clearly communicated.

The reason the CPs don't just get physically traded and added to your CP pool is that CPs don't work that way. ICs are what you are "really" trading; CPs just affect the probabilities of who those ICs get allocated to. So it doesn't matter if you have 10 CPs or 100 CPs, the pool of actual ICs doesn't change.

That being said, I am looking at some changes which would make CP trades a little more "official" and have the system enforce them. When that happens, the rules for CP trades will change a little, as the system won't be able to enforce trades beyond the current season so you won't be able to make multi-season CP trades. But the changes will require a lot of work and testing so they will not be anything that would help for this particular trade.

If this continues to be an issue, I'll just reverse the trades that were dependent on CPs, as there is no way to give anyone "extra" ICs in compensation.
