Football updates installed

May 04, 2015 at 09:18AM View BBCode

The following updates and fixes have been installed into the football sim:

- A bug was fixed preventing the offense from recognizing that they are about to hit the 2-minute warning and run a hurry-up play (if not running out the clock)

- A setting was added to your Timeout Strategy page to prevent your team from wasting a timeout when the 2-minute warning is about to hit. Default is 8 seconds away from the 2-minute warning, minimum is 2, maximum is 60.

- Administrative timeouts will now be taken after injuries. Players recover energy during administrative timeouts.

- A bug preventing some players from resting during timeouts and quarter changes has been fixed.

- The amount of time a player's energy flatlines before starting to recharge has been reduced.

- Modified the last-second spike logic to prevent a spike on 3rd down at the end of the game if tied and not within field goal range.

- Reduced interceptions on long passes to be more in line with the NFL.

- Reduced interceptions in early quarters and increased them in later quarters to be more in line with the NFL.

- Incoming freshmen in Premium leagues will now be a year younger on average.

- Fixed a bug that would cause penalty first downs to also appear as passing first downs.

- Adjusted pressure to make long passes slightly easier to complete to be more in line with the NFL.

- Adjusted pressure to make short passes under pressure a bit more difficult.

- Changed distance-related passing stats to measure from the Line of Scrimmage rather than the passer. NOTE: Because of this, long passing will look like it has gotten worse because the 20-40 stats are now equivalent to 25-45 in the old system. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about his; I was hesitant to change the meaning of this stat but without measuring from the same point as the NFL it's very difficult to compare stats.

- 24-team leagues are now available.

Special thanks to 1950srobot for his assistance in collecting data for the passing simulation adjustments.

I forgot a big change.

On the roster page, you can now set a Waiver Priority for players. If you have a trade pending or for some reason may run into a roster limit that requires players to be auto-waived, the Waiver Priority setting will be used to decide who gets waived. You may give each player a Waiver Priority from 1 to 9. Players with a Waiver Priority of 1 get waived first, and on through waiver priority 9, before it starts considering waiving players that have no waiver priority setting at all. Waiver Priority is the last column on the Roster page.

will this also apply to the playcalling? what I mean is, will a short pass or short shotgun pass now also go 5 yards farther downfield than it did before?

YEP....pass long and often.

At least that's my interpretation

Woe to the player who doesn't get the best QB and fast WR comboText

No, just to the way the stat is recorded.

I wouldn't recommend it but you are welcome to try. Things have been eased a bit but repeated long passing will still see interception rates well above normal.
