Fantasy Mvps(1980)
April 27, 2015 at 01:58AM View BBCode
I know I know I was late again, but I didn't want to do fantasy mvps with crappy write ups about each player, I needed to make sure I would feel inspired when I did them, so without further or do here are your fantasy mvps on 1980:
First off we have the honorable mentions, these guys are the players that made an impact for there team but couldn't make it into the top 3 in their category.
At QB we have Benny Parks(VIR) with 188.5 pts- (This guy was a difference maker last season and helped contribute to the defending champs. He put up some beautiful numbers at time last season despite his older age and was probably one of the best off season acquisitions last season. We will see if he can make a return to not only this list but to the playoffs as well this season.)
At Receiver we got John Franklin(Sac) with 101.15 pts- (I know he didn't get a lot of points that you usually see at Receiver, BUT he had ZERO DROPS, ZERO!?!. This kid is something special and should be able to put up big numbers this season as well.)
At RB we have Ralph Jackson(LAD) with 196.2 pts- (He was a good back for this LA team that almost made the playoffs. Seattle knows him too well and he is only going to get better, BUT we he be back on this list higher up next season? Only time will tell.)
Now that we are done with the honorable mentions, lets get to the mvps:
Receiver(tight ends count but none had a stand out season)
Points as follows -- 1 per 25 yds receiving / 6 per td / 1 per 10 yac / .15 per 1st down / -2.5 per drop
3. We have Alonzo Vactor(NO) with 108.68 pts. (This future H.O.F player continues to make an impact for his team that ALMOST made it to the Sim Bowl. He didn't put up dazzling numbers but he did just enough to help the Rebels win football games. Its amazing how good he is at age 35 and hopefully he will continue to be a "force" this season.)
2. We have Richard Benson(FLA) with 108.69 pts (Yeah he doesn't have a lot of points BUT he had 72 catches and 1186 yards in 13 GAMES!!! He was a beast and was a very good weapon for Cash last season. Hopefully he will be as productive this season.)
1. The number 1 wide receiver IS the only the only JOE GROSVENOR(Vir) with 150.69 pts- (This guy was Snubbed the last two seasons but this season he had a very good year and proved all the doubters wrong and helped deliver a championship to this team. He was a match up nightmare to Seattle corners and other DBs around the league as he dropped ZERO PASSES. Man this kid is very productive and hopefully will make it back on the list this season.)
Quarter backs -
Points as follows - 1 per 25 yards pass / - 1 per sack / - 2 per interception / 4 per td pass / .25 per first down pass
3. Micheal Gray with 194.69 pts- (Eh some could argue that he was a product of a pass happy system, some could say that he had the luxury to throw to my boy Pitts and crew, but at the end of the day he lead the league in passing yards and was the main reason that this Arizona team was at the thick of the playoff race.)
2. We have my boy Damon Shaw with 205.57 pts- (He is the leader of this well oiled machine of an offense. He helped lead this talented and well coached SJ squad all the way to a sim bowl with very impressive wins over the best defense in the league in Pittsburgh and the most talented team in the league in Philly. He is a dangerous QB and will only get better faster and stronger this season(see what I did there lol:cool:) )
1. Your TOP QB LAST SEASON WAS Jack Clark(Philly) with 215.91 pts- (He is the Model of consistency and a very good QB for this Philly squad. He helped lead this Philly team to a playoff win. Chromedome came in and this team didn't step back or miss a step, they continued to be great with Jack at the helm.)
RB-
1 per 10 rush yards / 6 per td / -1 per fumble / -2 per fumble lost / .5 per 1st down / - 1 per st
3. We have rookie phenom(not the coach lol) Jason Watts(SYR) with 209.1 pts- (This kid was one of the top rated players coming into the 1980 draft, but because the top four picks going a different direction, he fell right into Syracuse's lap. He did not fail to disappoint as he came into syracuse and helped control the clock for this team and win them some games. With his A+ potential, the sky is the limit for this kid and soon the whole league will be put on notice.)
2. We have my boy Dave Brown(SJ) with 242.6 pts- (He continues to be a very good back for this amazing team. He had an amazing season for his age at his position and was one of the key factors for why this team almost won a championship. Some will say he isn't worthy for the H.O.F but if it were up to me he would definitely get my vote.)
1. YOUR NUMBER ONE FANTASY MVP IS FUTURE H.O.F Bryan McCloud(HAR) with 246.9 pts- (This guy is amazing and this season at age 30 he was able to have a season for the ages with his team while continuing to score alot of touchdowns. One of his best games this season was a 142 yard 2 TD effort against Seattle. He is the ultimate back and in the end will go down as one of the best to ever be in this league.)
Well thats it folks, good luck to all this season and remember don't forget about the little guy or that croc that wants your lunch:lol: .

The formula for how I get the points is written before i write down who got what points.

It took me a while to find a KISS keep it simple S formula to prevent 20+ finalist in the running. Stu was hired at a rate of $0.00 and hour to add his valuable input for the players to enjoy.

Thanks stu, great read, we need to come up with a point system for defense.
By the way, story on Fod, what happened to the amazing story I gave you. It will make your writing career. Don't let someone else take that story.

Don't worry cueball I will definently do it this season then next season I will do the voting again. I didn't want to go against the democracy.

I have a point system for defense somewhere. Again it's a revised version of the one geo used in the past. I'm not too sure what this democracy thing is you speak of tho.

This is something that May be worth looking at ---
Probably by DL / LB / CB / SF --- maybe revised slightly for each spot Can brake DL to DT DE
Sac - 2 / Int - 2 / Td - 4 (cause 2 points for int are also added) / BRK - 2 / FF - 3 leads to change of possession in 40% +/- avg .
The flaw I had in the EDFL was 2 fold I counted DEF= INT+BRK as deflected oooops. And had a double wammy for giving too many points to TD's with the inteception addition.
