Why are SIM Divisional series seven games ?

March 03, 2015 at 08:48PM View BBCode

MLB has always used a best of five format for LDS, just wondering why the sim chose to go with seven ?

Not sure, but I personally would love to see 5 game LDS and 7 game LCS both in the same day maybe even with a few hours between, that extra day of downtime really drags.

That would make it extremely difficult to adjust pitching rotation roles, manager settings, etc. between games, wouldn't it? It's already tough enough to have to do it once every hour on playoff days.

well you gotta understand, some dudez like to go 10-20 games per day, so a playoff series feels slow to them...i always wish the playoffs would go at 3 GPD.

I hear ya, I just don't know how they are able to find the time to make critical adjustments during the most important part of the season. It seems odd to me that the playoffs run quicker (7 games/day) than regular season (3 games/day) for Dynasty Leagues. One would think more time would be afforded to owners to make critical adjustments when the games are the most important, but the exact opposite is actually the case.

It's most likely because during the playoffs there are four guys playing games and twelve twiddling their thumbs. The better business model may well be to prevent those twelve from getting bored and going elsewhere.

Great point. On the business side I agree completely. But on the game-play side I dislike the current playoff setup. If I owned SimD I might even have some kind of "consolation tournament" during the playoffs just to keep the non-playoff owners engaged.

I suspect because the code was already written for a seven-game series. You just need to plug in the team IDs of the contestants.

They had enough new code to write accommodating the 24-team concept.

But it's just a guess.....

Support is always the best route if you want an answer from Admin.

Really? Post season is two days. If guys get bored that quickly may be they should cut back on the meth.

Well 3 days in a 24 team league but your point is valid.

If you have decided you like the fast pace of 15 or 18 gpd, then you really should not complain about the pace of the post season.

That said... like several other things, SD is no where near as realistic as MLB.
