Why does ABE do this ??

Barry Neill is a SS ? Really, F arm & D range always screams SS to me.

The minimum requirement for catcher arm was put in years ago so let's do the same thing for MI as well, with his terrible range he'll likely take a year to convert to LF in the minors.

I've always wondered that, too. It's just strange. Usually ABE does a decent job at assigning default positions but every once in awhile there is one that just makes zero sense. That guy couldn't play SS effectively at the high school level.

i disagree, Catcher is unique, but the rest should remain random. That kind of thing should be our job, not ABE's. If someone uses a terrible fielder at SS, that's a mistake they need to learn from. Otherwise we may as well have ABE trim minors to 15, not allow you to put 1 CP on a dude, not allow you to pull pitchers based on performance, etc.

Why does ABE do this ??

The only reason that I can think of that ABE does this is that it somehow negatively impacts Bundy. That's got to be it.

D range screams Derek Jeter to me. :P

Cool.

I drafted him so I'll be happy to look forward to 3400+ hits, a career OPS over .800, 5 WS rings and a first ballot induction into the Hall of Fame.

actually, you use your position change points somewhere else (if they are needed somewhere else, like on something that will switch easier that you know you will need, maybe something closer to the majors. thats the great thing about the position change improve, it doesn't not depend on age). then when this thing (assuming its going to carry points) improves greatly in range and arm (over one or two seasons, it is going to improve greatly, because it is so awful) then you give it the positon change points, and it won't take a whole season, probably. something like this

its a lot of trouble to go through for an outfielder, granted, if there was no position change improve, you would just switch in the majors, the ic loss is not really significant. but for a really nice hitter (which this thing isn't, but, you have to take the things in the draft the way you find them, truly), this is easy enough to do and a decent use of the points.

ABE just did it again, the Beta but still. This guy, who has one of the great sports, or any profession really, names but with F range and a D- arm I can't really see 2B in his future.

I'm OK with it at 17/18. I had a guy with F/F make A-/B before. It's the 21 year old 2nd baseman with D-/D- defense that kills me. I'm thinking his college coach would've switched him to the OF.

There should be a minimum value for the defensive bundle (by position) that's based on their current age.

I'd rather they just didn't assign positions at all, but I can see there might be issues with that.
