Minor DL Fix

July 13, 2004 at 05:26AM View BBCode

I have made it so that players going on the DL are removed from the lineup (it looks a bit weird on the depth chart to see them still in your lineup).

This change, the depth chart and promote changes, and the new dynasty vision stuff will be moved over to the main site probably on Wednesday or Thursday. So let me know if you find any bugs before then so they can be addressed.

I am not sure what to look for. My injured player is not displayed on my lineup (beta and main). The injured player shows up on my Depth Chart (beta and main). So, to me, there doesn't seem any difference in the "Minor DL fix".

I was able to take my injured player i put on the DL list a minute ago off the DL list doing the following:

First of all I placed him on the DL list and updated the list so that he had a minimum of 15 days to heal.
I then demoted him to the minors.
I promoted him back to the majors.
He is now off the DL list... he shows up as injured, but his 15 days are not set.

Interesting... I checked the DL list again and found he is "healing" and has to wait 15 days to get off the DL list.

The issue before was this. Lets say your cleanup hitter gets injured. You move him to the DL. In the database, he would still be listed as cleanup, and therefore on the depth chart page, he would show up as batting 4th (the page would show 2 guys batting 4th). Now, he won't show up as batting anything on the depth chart.

Did you demote the guy using the Depth Chart page? I'll have to bring this up to MooVoLong if you did. Thanks!

Actually, I have to think this through more. The way the database is set up, a player can be either on the DL, in the Majors, or in the Minors. So we can either leave it how it is, or make it so that if a guy is on the DL he can't be demoted. I'm not sure which route to go. Those are the 2 basic ways I could go with this.

Let me know if I need to remove the demote checkbox for players on the DL. The piece that validates promotes/demotes would probably need to be changed to prevent that move as well.

I did use the Depth Chart to demote him to the minors while on the DL list. He moved directly there without passing through Options because he is not required to pass through Options yet.

When I moved him back to the majors (while injured) two things happened when I check the DL list.
First - he appeared on the DL as injured, but not "locked in." (Remember he was "locked in" when I sent him to the minors) I had the ability to click the button to place him on the DL. I did NOT, I only looked. I went back to the depth chart, saw him there WITHOUT the DL icon.

Next - I returned to the DL list and magically he now was "locked in." The Depth Chart also showed the DL icon. I did nothing but look.

-------

I assume that if I did this with a player who must pass through Options, the player would be available on the Waiver Wire. If so, it does not matter if I am able to demote an injured player off the DL.

On the other hand this should be fixed if I can demote an injured player to get around passing through Options.

Okay, I'm not sure yet where I stand on allowing guys on the DL to be demoted - but I do know that the pages can't quite handle it so I've reconfigured promote/demote to not allow this. I'm going to do the same for the depth chart - Moov, I'll send you what I end up changing, if I can read your code :)

Moov - I put a little fix in for this, but you can do something else to it if you want to. Sorry for stepping on your toes :)
