the Above being said I use the black ink test when I cast a ballot. That is how often did they lead all players in any stats. You can win 250 games in 15 years and NEVER lead the league in the wins. We need separate league leaders noted it would make voting easier.July 23, 2014 at 06:22PM View BBCode
What about Steals? or at least SB%... I think that should factor in. Fielding % is something I like to look at as wellJuly 25, 2014 at 02:17PM View BBCode
Steals are reliant on manager prefs. If a manager does not wish to run even though he has a Whitey Herzog track team and a large stadium that hurts steals. As to Fielding pct. Many Sluggers can't field, many fielders can't hit. Why I don't factor those into my vote. And many owners are only fixed on HR/AVG/RBI/OPS and the factors of that number. And with Pitchers W-L SV ERA and WHIP and K's sometimes 3K K's aren't enough to get some votes. But if you like to look at the whole pie so be it.July 26, 2014 at 06:25AM View BBCode
I think some milestones should be a bonus though. 3k ks, 400 saves, 400hrs ,etc. Looking at the active leaders there won't be many close to Hof numbers based on the criteria. I agree that it's an elite group but like in the mlb, some stats should and do get you in there. I can only imagine how it feels to have a player who was drafted, coached, mentored, and see numbers accumulate to a hof induction. I personally don't have a player close to that status but its awesome to see you guys experience that. #Casement 2008HOFJuly 27, 2014 at 03:31AM View BBCode
It's pretty hard for catchers to meet those criteria. Sometimes we as a league I think don't always account for their endurance handicap when looking at their career numbers. I can think of a couple of catchers that were really dominant for years that didn't get much HoF interest. Albert Hermanson certainly set the standard in MOL, but I wonder if he'll be the last catcher we elect?July 27, 2014 at 02:25PM View BBCode
I had a catcher in another league meet two of those requirements and was not elected because of range factor and +/- on his fielding. Different folks hold catchers to higher standards. Call it the Johnny Bench factor.August 10, 2014 at 09:28PM View BBCode
I'm generally in favor of loosening the criteria to get on the ballot and leaving it up to the whole league what criteria deserves inclusion. A guy with a .290 AVG, 380 HR, 750 XBH, 1400 RBI, and 2400 H would probably be a hall of famer in my mind, yet he wouldn't even get on the ballot under those criteria. Sure, if we relax the criteria, some people will get on the ballot who don't deserve to, but we don't have to vote those people in.August 10, 2014 at 11:48PM View BBCode
Well as PaulCaraccio has stated in a league I run the Hall, "it is the hall of fame not the hall of very good." I can be flexible but lets not make it so we are always inducting somebody. I can go with 2300 hits, 375 HR 1450 RBI and a OPS of at least .775. Pitchers I think 200 Wins or 450 saves should get you on. 2500 K's, Under 1.30 Whip and a 3.50 or less ERA. All Star and the like can be a personal choice on voting.August 12, 2014 at 05:12AM View BBCode
In the end we all should be realistic. We won't have a lot of players who have ridiculous numbers. I agree with curley, we should look at the entire resume of a player. There are players that play with killer teams that boost numbers. I guess that's what makes this game fun. The debates!August 12, 2014 at 11:46AM View BBCode
Conversely and not extra work everyone who has retired and played ten years can be on the ballot.August 20, 2014 at 03:40PM View BBCode
Doesn't the code for the game make all-star appearances stat heavy? Thus if a guy is on 7+ all-star teams he was dominate in his era. I think number of all-star appearances should be considered. Just my 2 cents.August 20, 2014 at 03:47PM View BBCode
This guy doesn't meet your standards http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=9324543 but he was are 7 all-star teams and was a defensive stud and a stand out player in his era. I would vote him in the hall with out a second thought.August 20, 2014 at 03:47PM View BBCode

Branch will meet the criteria once his career is done (over .270 average and 800 extra base hits). He will easily hit over .270 and currently sits at 717 extra base hits. Then let the voters decide.Pages: 1
