Another fun season

July 07, 2004 at 10:08PM View BBCode

As this seaon draws to a close, I just want to thank everyone for another great season. I really love this game and find it highly addictive.

I had a little frustration at some of my players performing under last years records, but it's been a learning experience as I learn new strategies and pick up nuances of the game I'd either missed or not known about previously.

I'm eagerly awaiting another fun season with you guys and just wanted to say thanks for giving me a diversion that is fun, challenging and a great way to fill a couple hours a day going over stats.

Lance a/k/a BravesFanLV (yes, I'm a huge Atlanta Braves fan ;-))

Your'e right Lance, this game is a great diversion. I'm having fun also. This is my first dynasty team and I've made many mistakes. Each season I learn something. I always go over my team and try to formulate a plan. Every plan is based on assumptions. As time goes by I learn that some assumptions are wrong.

Since I joined this league I picked up two other teams. Of the three leagues this one has the most active and interesting owners. I would like to thank everyone for that. :cool2:

I thought about picking up another team, but I work from home and am on the computer 18+ hours a day and it's already hard enough to actually get work done while pouring over boxscores for one league. With multiple leagues, i might not get any work done at all, LOL

I have fun in the other league because I learned from the OCL draft, fixed my mistakes and came out with a good team. I guess my point is the interaction with the other owners is just as important as winning. Winning and rebuilding goes in cycles. The other owners make it better no matter which direction my team is going and I value the group of owners we have here. :spin:

I have 3 teams now, one is the MML (Mickey Mantle) which is in season 1960 (will be making 6th post season apperance this year with 2 trips to the final and one title), this league, which I wanted to try the 'buy young and grow' stratagy (which I have to say, I like this league best, so far as my older league is starting to grow old on me). I also just picked up a team in a privite league that plays 12 games a day. I wanted to play in a league where the season lasts only a little over 2 weeks. Interesting, to say the least. You buy in for 10 months, but at this rate, we will play about 17-18 seasons buy the time we have to re-up.

I want to thank everyone for making this the most entertaining league I've been in. Sounds like the majority of us think the same thing about this league vs the other leagues we compete in. The constant chatter on the MB makes it very interesting. Seems like there are always trade ideas being tossed back and forth with good discussion points being brought up surrounding trades, games, etc. Good stuff.

I still haven't had much success with this game. I have three dynasty teams going right now. And I think I'm maxed out. Any more and I think I wouldn't be able to keep up with everything. Pre-ranking the amateur draft for three leagues takes a long time. Not to mention just swapping players around, checking out trades, and trying to stay up to speed with the latest news.

Thanks for another great season. Definitely looking forward to many more to come.

FUN????? ugh, seriously my ego has taken a monstrous beating this season, I am anxiously awaiting the smilie with tears cuz wow do I need it ...

but it's such a cool game, I lucked out completely by having this as my first League, it's been a great trip-just wish David could be around, hope life is treating him better, I can't think many leagues have kept all their owners together into the third season.

What would be really awesome is if we became true junkies like in fantasy leagues and shared more of our operating philosophies. What would you all think of posting your top 10 list in the draft after its over and some of the thinking behind it, given that every year has different demands for your team, radically different pools etc I don't think you would give up too many secrets by doing this.

I also share the same passion as you all do. I will just look at stats here for a while then check out line ups. I also like the fact that all of you are active. Im in other fantast leagues like Yahoo and continue to stay active there even with poor teams (not all of them are bad):spin:. Anyway thanks for a great season gents.

This is one awesome league, participation-wise. Even the top tier in the relegation league isn't this active.

I think a lot of that is owed to the Wind and Philadelphia. They have been very active, both on the boards and in trying to improve their teams. A lot of the noncontending team owners in other leagues just lose interest and let things slide. They certainly don't keep bringing all this refreshing energy to the game.

Its definately nice that there is a lot of action....I just went through my team...of my 40 players...only 20 are players that I drafted. Only 11 of my 25 major leaguers are players I drafterd....:o

thanks for kicking my @$$ all season too ;-)

some days it gets frustrating when you're having a losing streak, but I still enjoy it (even the days I have to explain to my wife why I'm swearing at the scrolling text on the screen (I started watching all of the games unfold when I used to just hit "show all" and pour over the box sores)).

I wanted to keep the daily "news" thing going but started a major project with a major client but for the next season I might do a series recap.

Also, am I the only one who can picture each player in my head? I've given them all "personalities", etc.

Yes but soon the tide shall turn. In a season or two I will be cussing at the screen. Asking WHY, WHY, WHY? I check my wonderful trade aways, I see how much Wies and Busby have improved. Yet I still worry about Baltimore, St. Louis, Brooklyn and Chicago. I see how young the teams out here in the AL are. I may have some studs now but you gentlemen will have some stallions. But as long as your here Ill be here.:)

Nope, which is why I hate players with names of existing players or personalities as is rampant in my other league. I have given all my players uniform numbers because apparently the Lords of this game have declared it unimportant and so they will never be provided for us. I must have alot of turnover because some nnumbers are on their fourth guy:o

many thanks, I hope I can live up to high praise. The Wind is busting out new unis and a new logo for '52 though I think it will be '53 before we can think about a winning season, I want to move up in the second so if anyone has ideas u2u me.

I have no awards. A guy who hits 398 42 HRs 124 RBIs 101 runs scored and missed 32 games due to injury. No mention. How do you say it windward?.... No worries:spin:
