Who can answer this simple question. To defend against shotgun exclusive happy passers what happens if I use 97 pct. run cover(is it 4-3 exclusive?) and split 1 1 1 pct short deep m2m since the def automatically goes 425 what plays are 425 exclusive? and will one of my selections be called since my 97 percent run cover is out of the 5-3. (is this correct?)

Also what plays are 4-3 exlusive?

Thanks I am sure alot of guys would like to know.

if the offence comes out in a shotgun the defence will switch to nickel. I think at that point right now if you have a run play called it defaults to man to man. so in your scenario, if you had those settings and played a team that threw from the shotgun on every play you would get 98% man to man 1% short zone and 1% deep zone. I think.

some one confirm please my 2 pct is effective but I will be forced to m2m 98 pct even if I do not wish to. So what kind of guy m2m deep covers best.

honestly, I have a completely different defensive package to play against those teams.

Dirtdevil is correct in his statements. If in Run Coverage and the Offense rolls out in a Shotgun, your revert to 4-2-5 Man To Man.

so whom is best to setup in m2m as rcb lcb nb lb and sf to stop the pass happy shotgunners

let's see if I am doing the right thing. I worked hard on my 1st team and wish to maximize my defence which is doing a very good job but must get better.

My 1st. link has allowed too many points to date.

This was Long Shotgun vs. Man-to-Man. He was throwing with the wind but it was a slight wind so it shouldn't have been that much of a boost. I'll have to dissect this one. One problem I have been having is that really high power QB's throw long passes almost effortlessly.

When the offense comes out in Shotgun, the defense changes to a Nickel. The underlying defensive play doesn't change anymore but the formation still changes to cover the additional receiver.

Rich it doesn't apply to pay leagues because you cannot run our of the shotgun like you can in the test leagues. If the D is in a run play and the O comes out in shotgun, the D comes out in 4-2-5 and plays man.

What I am uderstanding from these latest posts is no matter what SG only defence is m2m 100% of the time. Yes or No.. So If I have 10 pct outside run. 90 pct deep for example Guy goes sg long I am stuck with a single defence being m2m? or 10 pct. m2m 90 pct deep. This is where my confusion and inability to manipulate my strategies on off and def lie.

you will be 90% deep zone/10% man2man.

you call run defense = you will play man 2 man if they go shotgun

simple as that, nothing else changes.
