Congrats to the Wilverines

July 09, 2014 at 06:26AM View BBCode

Another amazing finish; this year the Wilverines won 12 out of their last 13 games and 19 out of their last 21 to steal the pennant away from my New York Highlanders. Hopefully we'll be able to get some sort of revenge over last year's playoff loss and this year's stretch run.

Good luck in the upcoming battle!

I knew I was doing good then, but I didn't realize THAT well, and thank you and good luck to you as well.

Congrats to both Brooklyn and Washington on their LCS victories. It should be a great WSC .

Congrats on knocking out the Highlanders. Game 5 was especially brutal; a 2-1 lead with two outs in the 9th after chasing 22-2 Rawley Eastwick (who was beaten in Game 1 of the series), only to have Fireman of the Year Jesse Fischer give up a triple and a double, followed by a single off reliever Roberto Cruz.

Five-time 20-game winner Lew Pesky was set up to pitch the deciding game 7 had the Highlanders been able to hold on to that game 5 9th-inning lead; I'd take my chances any day with a pitcher who was 46-11 over two years.

I looked back and Eastwick, including playoffs was 1-3 in 8 games against the Highlanders this year. That means he was 21-0 against everyone else.

Interesting looking back. He also had five games in which he gave up 2 ER's or less out of those 8, and had no decision in two games of 8 shutout innings. In the two regular-season games that he lost, he gave up a combined 4 ER in 16 innings, which equates to a 2.25 E.R.A. Pretty impressive, especially if you consider that we were the team he did the WORST against.

I wish SIM Dynasty had team splits as part of each player's statistical analysis.
