at war with ABE...and ABE is winning

I don't pretend to be a great manager and I know I have some serious holes on my team but the evils sicked upon the Wind has sunk to a new low. Heinie somebody, a B-/C- pitcher just 1 hit my team and I'm NOT tanking. I really lack power but I have a bunch of guys with .800 OPS and I get one hit by a pitcher most people would never consider having on their roster, it's really really disheartening. I might as well trade all my players with talent and fill up with guys from the waiver wire because it would make little difference in my record. ABE got tired of shelling my starters in the first three innings and suddenly they are pitching competitively for the first time all season but that's OK because now I am in a prolonged hitting slump and have gone from losing 12-10 to 3-2, neat. My other team was two games out of the playoffs with great pitching then a sudden 2-14 streak later where my MUCH MUCH MUCH better starters get toasted like Wind starters are all I have left is a mediocre draft seed (#8) and tears.

I love this game and just signed up for a third team but man it's getting increasingly difficult to want to look at my box scores, it's the same feeling a Brewers fan has had in August and September every year for a decade, well I guess the Brewers got better... thanx for listening to my whine, I needed to get it off my chest, any and all tips,suggestions,etc are GREATFULLY accepted. :)

No worries. I was surprised at Caithamer's performance as well. He was just a stopgap starter that I was hoping to keep things at bay until I could accidently find some decent pitching. With my top 2 starters getting hammered in their last outings, I was shocked at the game as well.

I'm really going to have to bulk up on power somehow during this offseason as my pitching overall has been dreadful.

Valentine does well, but walks way too many batters and mark Hearn has some real dogsh*t run support. I call him Mr. 500 as he seldom does more than a game or two above or below .500 (last season and this season)

I've done my share of whining, so no worries, we'll just wallow in our teams' miseries until we can maybe grab a couple draft pics or ABE decides he doesn't hate us so much after all ;-)

I guess I lucked out getting Polanco last year. He fits the profile of the type of player I'm looking for. I decided to pick up some more this year, so I grabbed up some extra picks. I found out that last years draft was not the norm. I may have let my veteran players go too cheaply for third round draft picks. Oh well, live and learn.:rolleyes:

Mibac,

The problem with your team is simply your lack of patience. You seem to make trades for players and then give up on them too quickly. Ted Mitchell would have been the best power hitter on your team if you hadn't traded him to me for Gene Perrine (although Perrine will be a stud sometime in the future). Same with Newt Myette. I thought you got him for a steal (the 15th or 16th pick in this year's crappy draft). I think if you had your good young players in the minors and held on to some of the older guys you've traded, your team would be in a better position.

But then again, I've never been in the playoffs and I drafted Leon Frickin Jeltz instead of Pete Polanco. Someday I'll get over that.

Yeah I have zero patience that's true. I have made a few horrible trades with Matt Bowen being #1 on that list, when I started playing last season I had played exactly 20 games in a short season so I am still feeling my way and learning. I didn't know how to set the numbers for the initial draft so I ended up with just putrid everyday players, I had nothing pretending to be real outfielders or a first baseman and absoluterly no power hitters and didn't realize quite how important power was till this year so I kept trading to upgrade my holes, unnfortunately I traded my good pitching to get to where I am so now I have that problem. I have been haunted by bad relief pitching throughout.

The Mitchell trade was one I obviously regret doing in giving up two firsts and let's just say that the circumstances under which I pulled the trigger were less than ideal to make reasoned decisions, not a day goes by that I don't DEEPLY regret making that trade and when Mitchell played so poorly on such a consistent basis I just wanted to get rid of him because his presence was just a reminder and frankly I think I got the better end of the trade getting Perinne. I honestly couldn't believe my good fortune in getting Myette for a late first and wasn't looking to trade him but the Baltimore trade just made too much sense for me, I get a better than average power hitter in Acosta (not as good but OK and I just need him to play LF for one year and Myette was a lousy fielder also with terrible health rating which is unfortunately true for Eave also), a MUCH better utility outfielder in Baker and with Hatteberg and Eave's health ratings he will play a lot and the key is I get a chance to draft a first rounder where I think I will sneak in a really good player I desperately need. I did extensively shop Case and Keltner but kept them when I really didn't get anything I wanted in return and the price would be very high if someone wanted to go for either now. I am actually surprised that nobody goes after my kids, I have one too many and will have to make a trade for a starter.

I do feel almost persecuted by ABE though. I don't understand why a guy with Keltners ratings doesn't have a OBP well above .400 which he virtually never does, Nonnenkamp has a great arm but gets stolen blind and keeps tossing the ball into the outfield, my relievers ALL have ERAs above 5.00 and they aren't great but not nearly that bad, especially Becker who many of you tried to get from Philly, Ewing was hitting .220 and Mitchell not even that when they played for me and Myette was under the Mendoza line in the 10 games he played for me etc. The two Detroit games where I was shut down completely by two guys who had a combined ZERO wins previous to the series (I kid you not) and the three where I barely beat Washington despite the fact they were completely tanking are kinda extended metaphors for how helpless I sometimes feel.

Oh well its a game, hopefully I will improve, what else can I say. I truly appreciate the feedback, thank you very much for taking the time and if you could go back to losing to the goddamned Wind that would be helpful

:rolleyes::P

Obviously ABE feels bad for all the vile things he has performed on the innocent Wind :saint: and therefore has gone on retreat with the Dali Lama in Tibet thus delaying todays games :P:P:P;)

My 3 game win streak has caused ABE to express self-doubt and he'll probably have a nervous breakdown if the streak is extended to 4 games....
