FAQ About the Merger

May 06, 2014 at 05:16PM View BBCode

Why is this being done?
Simply put, there are more teams available for sale on the site than we can support. So leagues are being merged in order to eliminate the number of teams for sale. Since these leagues each have 4 people leaving and have had some issues with turnover in the past, it was felt this would be a good fit.

There are a number of people anxious to play in a 24-team league, so as people decide to drop out you should hopefully be able to find new people more quickly. And as other leagues go through similar mergers, there will be less leagues site-wide looking for new owners.

Finally, we plan to support 20 team leagues in the future. So the long term plan is that the league could be shrunk to 20 teams then back to 16 teams, if we have people leave and have trouble finding new owners.

How will the new league be setup?
We will create a new league structure, set in 1950. Your players and team will be moved into this league, but without their stats or team histories. Players will be "aged" so that they have a birth year appropriate for 1950. So if your player is 30 today, his birth year will be changed to 1920 when he is moved.

Your team history and player history will remain in the SCL/RAL if you ever want to get back to it. You can log into this team by clicking and going to the My Teams page.

When exactly will this happen?
After the Amateur Draft runs on May 14th.

How would the leagues and divisions be setup? The AL and NL are divided up into the AL East, AL West, NL East, and NL West. I have tried to keep teams in the same league and city they are in now. The RAL teams will be in the Easts and the SCL teams in the Wests to preserve rivalries. The exception is that there is 7 teams in the NL from the RAL and 5 in the AL, so Florida will be moved to the AL East and become Tampa Bay.

How do the playoffs and schedule work in a 24-team league?
Top team in each division makes the playoffs, there are 2 wild cards in each league (they can come from 1 or both divisions). There is an additional round of playoffs, the Division Series.

There is an unbalanced regular season schedule, you will play each team in your division 18 times (9 home and away) and the other division 12 times.

What will the new league be called?
The league will be known as the Ashburn Crawford League.

Who will the HOF Coordinator be?
codaddy will be in charge of the new HOF for the merged league.

Amateur Draft Classes
24 team leagues have 150 players generated for the draft pool, rather than 100.

What about the teams not joining the league?
These teams and their players will stay in the old leagues and not be a part of the new league. The players won't be part of any dispersal draft or anything like that.

If you have other questions, let me know.

Thanks!
Tyson
