Hall of Fame - 1991 Retirees - Nominations thread

April 03, 2014 at 07:16PM View BBCode

It's that time again! Please take the next week or so to check [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/leagueinfo.jsp?filter=Retire&mode=news&lid=394]the 1991 retirees[/url], and if you see anyone who you think should get a nomination, post the name and a link to his stats page on this thread. If you can, add a couple of highlights - what did the guy do to merit HoF consideration? It wouldn't hurt to take a look at [url=http://www.simdynasty.com/hof.jsp?lid=394]the Hall of Fame page[/url] to see how these retirees might stack up against the all-timers.

Please use this thread just for nominations, not votes. We'll vote on another thread after the nominations are all in.
Let's give this until Thursday, April 10th, at 11:59 pm. After that, I'll start another thread for voting. The carryovers for the next round of voting will be:

Carried over for the first time:
[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7075793]Mike Kirsch[/url] - 9-time all-star, 4 Fireman of the Year awards. His W-L and E.R.A. would also look a lot more impressive if he hadn't lingered into his forties, going 11-40 with a 6.00+ ERA in five ill-advised seasons after age 37.
[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6942803]Mad Dog Hrabosky [/url] - alltime leader in games pitched, 2 Firemen Awards, 6 time allstar, 565 saves, alltime leader in playoff games pitched (30)

Carried over for the second time:
[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=8884840]Richie Deer[/url] - 1973 Rookie of the Year, 462 lifetime saves, two Fireman of the Year awards, and 8 all-star appearances
[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7888783]Red Merritt[/url] - 2513 hits, 287 HRs, and 1266 RBI (.810 OPS),six all-star appearances and a RoY.
[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=8245762]Gary Brauny[/url] - 2201 hits, 355 HRs, and 1305 RBI (.841 OPS), seven all-star appearances and a MVP.

Carried over for a third time:
[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6794802]Bob Sugar [/url]--9 time allstar, 2 time world champ, 2617 hits, 1479 runs, power/run producing middle infielder, hit .327 in post season.
[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=8727988]George Walker [/url]--217 wins, 6 time allstar, 1975 gold glove winner, 0.621 win percentage, 8-7 with a 3.20 ERA in post season.

Carried over for the fourth (and final) time:
[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=6942809]Tom Chance[/url] -- 332 HRs and 2265 hits, lifetime OPS of .852 (#22 overall)
[url=http://www.simdynasty.com/player.jsp?id=7075755]Joe Rosenthal[/url] -- stalwart C with 10 all-star appearances and one MVP, 251 HRs and 2307 hits.
