Sorry about the wait on posting this message/explanation after the trade was made.
In addition to what was posted, NY Highlanders are trading Bob Besana (the 22yr old pitcher) to Boston. The Highlanders will be keeping Besana with 5cps for the remainder of the season.

Not sure that Besena and 5 cp's the rest of the season makes the deal anywhere close.

As kpoulin describes, the trade includes Bob Besana, plus 5 CP's on Besana for the remainder of the season. Apologies from me as well for not posting the additional details earlier today.

Before everyone gets TOO upset about this trade, Besana is one of only 4 pitchers under the age of 30 in the entire league that has B or better velocity AND A or better control. At age OS 22, he's the youngest by far.

I think the pick was an unnecessary addition to the deal. Minus the pick , I see it as a very good deal. Besana is going to be better than any of those veteran pitchers ever were. This deal won't exactly push either team over the top. That being said , I did not vote to overturn , I have seen much worse attempted.

I tend to agree with Lawman here. Basena is no doubt going to be stud for the long time and I imagine someone would have to "overpay" to get a player like that - although I think maybe not so much. That having been said I don't think this should be overturned.

For what its worth I voted to let the trade stand. Although this trade may not (from my perspective) have been equitable it does not meet the criteria needed to be overturned.

I am the owner of the Red Sox. I know that Admin said not to discuss the trade in this fashion but it also said that if either of the owners wanted to send them a message they would attach it to the league message board. I did that at 4am EST (I had insomnia) on Feb 25th and in the ensuing 36 hours they haven't posted it. Knowing that you are all voting now pushed me to post a message directly.
That message (which still may be posted for all I know) was lengthy and detailed about my numerous endeavors to get quality young pitching over the last 4 seasons. Over those many 'declines' I have come to the conclusion that quality young pitching is valued to a greater degree in this league than any other in which I take part.
As for the assertions that this deal would have been fair if I hadn't included the 1st rounder - no it wouldn't have, because there wouldn't be a deal. That offer was turned down. In fact, I offered those 3 pitchers to a couple of teams for a single 24 to 21 pitcher and I was turned down each time.
I made peace with the fact that I had to give up more to get a pitcher of Besana's quality. Was it more than I wanted to give up? Sure, that is why it took 4 seasons of me making numerous offers before I got to this point. Do I regret it? Not a bit. Every one of my prospects getting 3 cps or more is OS 20 or younger so I was going to be in a cp crunch had I kept that pick. And in the end I am getting a major league ready potential ace without having to commit 5 seasons of cps to get him. It is worth it for me and I am happier with my team now than I have been for the last couple of seasons.
I assure you, while it is a high price to pay, I am happy with the result.
Even if some feel that I am being taken advantage of, then so be it.
Whether you believe I was taken or not, please let me assure you, that there was and is no 'bad faith' involved. Which is (and should be) the factor that determines whether a trade should be over-turned.
I hope you will all vote to allow the trade to stand.
